I happens to Snatch every year, starting spring. He wipes/scratches the top of his noses with his front and back paws, and the wrinkles gets cut.. it scabs.. he scratches... it bleeds... it scabs.. he scratches... and it goes on and on..
I feel like the hypothyroid meds are helping A LOT this year with his allergies. I know it for a fact, because DH is going nuts with allergies this year, and Snatch NOT AT ALL.
Snatch usually bites his paws and his nose a week before DH.. That's when DH knows to start Zyrtec

But not this year. I have yet to start giving Snatch his benadryl... (and DH is on his second box of Zyrtec

)
So... just to let you know about the scab and bleeding.. I gave up.
I know it's bad.. but I can't put him in a cone all summer.
It cleared up right away last year after a day of super strong nasty meds from the vet (because scab was becoming huge). I can't remember the meds, but i know it's not good (I think it was prednisone - cortisone or something like that - i only gave it 2 days)
sometimes i put neosporine... but because he used to bite his paws, i was afraid he would scratch the neosporin and then lick it off his feet...
urf!
