I am looking for a brindle puppy, male or female, in the upstate NY area. I really would like to have a young puppy but i really dont want anything over 6 months old. I would like the tail done but the ears dont need to be. I would really like the puppy to be played with and handled since they were born so that they are nice to be around. You can e-mail me at kschehr93@yahoo.com if you know of anyone who might have a puppy for sale.

We rarely get very young puppies into our rescue program here in the Midwest. (Mo/KS/IA/NE) We also do NOT do adoptions around the holidays. You will need to ask the boxer rescue organization in your area their policies on adoptions through the holiday season(s).

Here are some rescue links. You might try contacting a rescue group in your area.

Please don't adopt a puppy at the holidays! There are too many things going on and too many "toys" around. Put a note or card in a box for the soon to be owner of the puppy and let them know, but pleeeeeeease don't give them the puppy until later.

Also, think about adoption. Even though the dog will be older, he will love you for rescuing him. You could always get a puppy later. Thanks.

While I think that puppies under a Christmas tree look really cute, and the novelty of giving one seems like a good idea, hundreds of dogs end up at animal shelters soon after Christmas when the novelty has worn off.

A puppy is a HUGE commitment, one perhaps better made after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Besides, most good breeders try NOT to whelp litters around Christmas, to ensure that their puppies get a wonderful, committed home fully prepared for the rigors of a puppy.

Just a suggestion.

I agree. Little puppies are adorable, but when they grow up, many people find they don't have the time necessary to spend with them and wind up giving them to shelters where many are euthanized. Take the time to research the breed and then when you are good and ready either go to a REPUTABLE BREEDER or rescue organization. Many rescue dogs are wonderful companions and are already potty trained and temperament tested. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!
