Need a new home for boxer in Colorado

Well, here we are again. I first came to Boxerworld searching for advice on how to help us out with our engergetic little girl and we've come full circle.

Justice is a very sweet, smart, ENERGETIC little girl (she can jump to peek over a 6 foot fence when standing at it's base), but if I'd like to stay married, I need to find her a new home.

I'm starting here because I know how much all of you love Boxers and how much care and time they need. I refuse to take her to a shelter and I am a bit queasy about taking her to a rescue, but if it comes to that we'll go there too.

Justice is good with kids, but better with the older ones. She's really great with our yougnest son when she's calm, but when she get's excited she forgets he's there and she's knocked him down a few times (I have to watch them like a hawk). So, she'd be better in a home with older kids (like say 6+, our oldest is 6 and he's good about moving LOL). She would be better living with a more passive dog, maybe a male, as she tends to be the dominant one and hasn't done so hot with dominant females at the dog park. She is constanly dominating our 6 year old female Cocker. She loves to play with larger breed dogs and her best friends are two large Doberman's. She loves going to the dog park and needs lots of excercise. Cats and smaller dogs are probably a no go.

She's 19 months, spade, flashy brindle, docked tail, floppy ears, crate trained and VERY lovable, see my gallery for pictures. With a third baby on the way, working full time and no one else in the household helping me and only griping about her, she needs a better environment where she can get the attention she needs and deserves.

Please post a response if you're interested or know someone who might be. Thanks.

Jill,

Just to give you a heads up on some rescues. With the rescue I volunteer for, we just dont have the room to take in owner surrenders. We are so small that our foster homes are filled with the kids on death row. So we always encourage surrendering owners to re-home their own babies. What we do do is we provide some material, that we copied from the internet, and we also post the pictures on our website. So, getting the rescue involved may not be a bad idea. They may have an applicant that doesnt fit with any of their dogs but might fit with yours.

Here is a link to the national/international list of rescues

Just click on your state. I have talked with the rescue in CO, they are a group of loving caring individuals. Now, I am not sure what their procedures are, since I havent worked with any of them.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the help/info. That's one of the reasons I started here. The rescue groups seem to have their hands full with babies that really need a home to keep them from death. If I can find a home for our girl on my own (without her going from home to home to home) that would be my preference. Thanks again for the help.

You can foster her I'm sure, while going through your local Rescue. They do have their hands full I'm sure, but they typically have a very extensive selection process and are really probably your best option.

Thank you all for the info and advice. I've contracted the local rescue and the original breeder; I'll keep you posted. Please also keep her in mind if you know someone in Colorado looking for a real sweetheart.

Too bad you are so far away. I asked dh if we could go on a 'quick' road trip, but apparatley Colorado is too far away. Good luck, I hope you find her a super home.

just to let you know

I live in FL and we (my husband) have worked with a safe shelter- when they get Boxers (young or old) the boxers don't even get put on the website because they are adopted so soon. I don't know if this is an option for you, but you could put up an adoption add on the board if nothing else. I also am fighting over placing my boxer pup with someone else- he is 9 mos and crazy! Good luck finding your baby a good home.

I wish I could take her, she's a cutie, but Charlie Paper and I live with an unagreeable male (my roomate's dog), so bringing another one in is not an option. I will keep my eyes and ears open for anyone looking for a dog needing a home. I'm sure you'll find her a great home. Good luck.

Thanks guys :) We're having some good luck with HoBo boxer rescue here in Denver. Marita is a trip and I know she'll find the perfect family for her, working with her is like adopting out a child, so I'm really comfortable and she has no problem telling people the gods honest, brutal truth LOL we found her link on the above mentioned boxermap.com, you can send anyone there to HOBO Boxer rescue if they are interested in Justice. :)
