If his problem is only in his crate, I would think about making his crate a little happier place. Maybe go back to crate training 101. Do a search here and you'll find plenty of information. Good luck!

Hi,
I feel your pain on the crate issue. I had a reinforced steel collapsible crate and my boxer boy Toby mangled it so badly that we had to throw it away. (This was after bending it back into shape several times and using zip ties.) I finally got a plastic crate with a wire door mechanism that locks both top and bottom. Along with the hinge that connects top and bottom, it is pretty "Toby proof." Remember that not all plastic crates are created equal. Also the little wire grid of the door is small enough that Toby could not get his teeth on it. :) Toby had separation anxiety until we would make sure that his crate was next to the one of my older dog Milo. He drove Milo crazy for a while until he finally got used to it. You might consider also playing a little music in the room that he is in, or even the television. It can be a distraction when a puppy is lonely.
Good Luck,

I agree. Pro Select and Gorilla Tough make very sturdy crates-just be sure to cinch all the corners with pliers-that is how my girl got out once :) We also use music and as your guy sounds anxious a frozen kong and the blanket over the top might help him-thought those were two great suggestions. Always helps if they are tired when they go in too! Good luck!

I like the life stages crate the best. it is collapsable for traveling, and there are 2 different openings for either a front entry or side entry, which is great for trying to squeeze a crate in a small apartment. the lock on the crate can be opened. my dear tango did not take long to figure it out. we bought the small rope climbing type clips at REI and now he can not get out of the crate! Another idea that has worked for us is to leave dirty laundry in the crate when you are away. It might sound crazy, but it has worked for me. I put on a sweatshirt and pair of socks i could live without, went to the gym, did some yard work, cleaned the house (made sure my odor was there!) i tied the socks into a knot, and threw the sweatshirt in the crate the socks became a favorite chew toy and as for the sweatshirt, a favorite pillow. Good luck!

My dogs use a crate like the ones they use to ship dogs at the airports, aka Airport Carrier. It's very solid and the locking mechanism is well protected, so I don't think that your pup can destroy it. I've seen these kinds of crates everywhere (Wal-mart especially) and they're worth ever penny. :) Good luck!
