Okay I am trying to convince my husband of us getting another rescue boxer so Maggie will have a brother. I have always felt that if you were going to have one you might as well go ahead and get 2! Agree??? Or should I just get one at a time. He would like to have a boy as well but he is concerned with the skin babies and it being to much at one time which is a fair enough case. I just think the more boxers the better and that is one more that you can give a great life to after being in rescue.

Sure, why not?? lol! Actually I would think about the size of house and yard. When you have to leave for a period of time, would you have a place for both of them to stay i.e. if they stay with family or friends, will they take both for you? Other than the extra costs in vet expenses and food, everything else is pretty much the same. I have to males and I love it! It gets crazy here sometimes but I love watching them play! Good luck!

Oh, life is just SO much more fun with two. Of course, they can be conspiratorial<G> Two dogs can cause 4 times the mischief, but they are that much more fun too. if you have the space and the tolerance, go for it. you will love it.

One word of warning. do not have two females unless you already have a dominant male in the house. Bitch fights are frightening and VERY sad. Boxer females can be viscious when they bitch fight and once they have gone far enough to draw blood, they will do it again and again until one kills the other. i learned the hard way. No dead dog thank heavens, but i had to resurrender a sweet wonderful rescue because of it. :-(

2 are better then 1. they keep each other company. but karon is right IMO I would never have 2 females again. I lost one to a bitch fight and the other was hurt real bad.:(

Having two boxers is great. I also agree with the other posters about having a male and female combo. Thats what we have and they get along great. We also have two young skin kids ( 5 and 2) as well and everyone gets along great in the family. My dd and female boxer Isis are best pals. Where every Taytum goes Isis follows. Best of luck.

I just got a second boy at the weekend to keep our first boy company. It's only been a couple of days but they are getting along really well and are great company for each other. I keep going into a time warp with them, I thought I was playing for 20 minutes with them, turns out to be an hour and a half. LOL

If you have the time and the space... go for it. Even though our 2 boys get along really well, I have heard that one of each gender is the best combo. I think ours are both very non dominant, they even eat out of the same bowl (we discovered this by accident. I didn't intentionally give them one bowl and wait to see what happens).

Good Luck

Lets make a deal

One now, one later. Boxers are good with kids, and generaly helpful with some training, they can carry a bag off, deter kidnappers, sacrifice toys to the canine gods etc..... Just kidding, but maybe hubby has a good reason, NOT. Go get the Boxer for him!

Two is better. I never thought I could laugh so hard.
Your life will never be the same once you get two boxers.

Good luck on your decision!

Two are much better than one. Twice the laughs, and twice the love. Plus, they keep each other occupied and you can actually have some time to do things around the house.

I have to agree, 2 are better than 1. I have a male and female and they get along famously. We don't have small kids in the house so we don't have to worry about kids getting hurt or knocked over. This can be a concern because as you can imagine, 2 boxers playing in the house can cause quite a ruckus. However this can be overcome! Other concerns though are, do you have the room for 2 big dogs? Can you afford to feed/vet 2 dogs? I think if the answer is "yes" than go for it. I personally can't imagine only having one.
Good Luck!
