name titles

i'm kinda new to the boxer world, when i found my first boxer Sasha. she was a pet store pet, so i really didn't think of this at that time. i found my other boxer Titus at a breeder in a near by town. i just wanted to know who to come up with a name??? i'v seen on the dog shows that they are longer names. just wanted to know what to put on the registration papers??? can anyone help me out????:confused:

Not sure what the long name is called, but usually it has something to do with the Kennel. I have seen some that have a litter and all the pups have to be named with the same letter of the alphabet, or a kennel named "music note kennel"(hypothetical) and requiring buyers to incorporate something from musicals into the long name.
Personally, if I were to buy a reverse brindle boy from a fake kennel called Jameson irish whiskey kennel( sorry I have an empty bottle that I keep change in on my desk)
I would do something like
Jamesons Luck of the Irish "Lucky" or something like that.
I am not very good at this!

It can be soo fun coiming up with teh long name, but also really hard. You will be in bed one night and the best name will pop in to your mind!!! It wiull come to you, dont worry!


The "short" name is the call name.

The long name is just called the registered name.

It is customary and courteous to include the breeder's kennel name in the registered name of the puppy. Some breeders will insist upon it (and some will name the dog themselves). You might also want to incorporate some of the sire's name. For example, if Chicagosarah's Lucky was the sire of a litter and the dam was Ice Mountain's Linen N' Lace (I have a bottle of water sitting on my desk :p ), you could name the pup Ice Mountain's Irish Linen, or Irish Lace.

Hey these are great tips! Angel was registered as "She's No Angel" a play on her own name with the Kennel name before this. I came up with it and my breeder liked it too!

Yes, it does seem to always come to mind while trying to get to sleep! But for me, this usually happens AFTER I've sent in the papers...:rolleyes:

Good example:
Ch PawPrint's Plainly Spoken

PawPrint is my kennel name so that goes first. Speaker is a plainly marked fawn boy. So I decided to find a "plain" type of a name. I decided that "Plainly Spoken" worked because this boy was plainly gorgeous which would "speak" well to the judges

I would ask your breeder if they want the kennel name in the registered name - usually they do! And it's usually at the beginning of the name. Their call name and their registered name don't have to have to go together, but most people do combine them.

Tegan's registered name is:
JEB's Northern Star
JEB's is the kennel name, and I picked Northern Star because of a star like white spot she has on the back of her neck.

Owen's registered name is:
Shadowdale Follow the Leader
Shadowdale is the kennel name, and I picked follow the leader for two reasons 1. becasue his sire's name was Shadowdale the Leading Edge (and he looks JUST like his dad), 2. becuase the northern start is the "leader" and Owen follows Tegan EVERYWHERE.

Have fun with the name! Look at what the sire and dam's names are and what you like - that should help you get started.
