We are going to look at a boxer girl today who is 6 months old and hopefully we will be bringing her home with us. The only problem is her name is Molly, the same as my niece. As my niece spends alot of time with us it may get rather confusing. Would Molly (dog not neice!) get used to a new name and if so do we have to choose a name that sounds similar to Molly?

When we adopted our 9 month old rescue Boxer the name she had wasn't really to our liking, so we changed her name, and we had no problems. She learned her new name quickly. (Her name went from Poco to Lexi) Best of luck!! :)

My sister adopted a 9 mth retriever and changed his name from Barley to Zak without any problems. Just do it as soon as you get the dog home, and she will quickly adjust.

Hope you get her.

Went to see Molly and she is gorgeous and yes we have decided to keep her. As to the name we are going to keep it as Molly. Sounds odd saying this but she does look like a Molly and she responds really well to her name. All her pedigree papers etc and microchip is written down as Molly. Our last boxer was called Holly so at least if we ever get confused the dog won't!!

Congrats about your new baby. Have you got her home already?

Post some pics soon - we all want to see this lovely Molly girl.

Helen, we have got her with us and I'm going to take her for her 1st walk soon - if it stops raining (England eh!!). I've forgotten what it is like to have a puppy running around and weeing everywhere. She's partially toilet trained so shouldn't take us too long. I've already taken some photos of Molly but need to get them developed. Also I'm not sure how to post photos on here? Can you help?
