Hi Everyone

About a week ago or so I have noticed that my pup Guinness has been bittiing his back right paw. I know that bitting their paws usually means that they have some kind of allergy, but white boxers can have so many it would take me a lifetime to figure out exaclty what he is allergic to. He has not cut them but I'm trying to fix the problem before it gets that far. I have tried putting socks on them and he just takes them off.

Any suggestions/advice would really help and be very appreicated.

Thanks for your time

Well first off white Boxers do not have anymore allergies than their colored counterparts.

Secondly what food do you feed? Have you tried rinsing his paws with plain water when he comes in from outside to get the dust, grass, pollen, etc off of his feet? This helps a lot of dogs. Is it red? Any blisters/bumps? A bug bite? Anything that may indicate why he's only biting at the one paw?

Poor Guiness! I've been told if a dog is chewing at it's paws it is most likely a food allergy.
I would look into a limited ingredient food with a different protein source than the food you are feeding now. That should help long term. Short term look to see if there is a yeast build up on the paws as this is commomn with allergies. Clean the paws (try a salt water solution) and try to keep them dry. Good Luck! Sending lots of positive non itchy ((vibes)) to Guiness!

Thanks everybody for the help

I feed him Grandma Mae's Country Kitchen from an organic pet store which is rating 119 points he has been eating that for almost two years now. I will try and wash his paws when he comes in form outside and see if that works I also called my vet and she told me it wont hurt him to give him a half of benedryl in the morning until the first frost hits and that should help with the itchness and the chewing.

This is what I feed Guinness Grandma Mae's Country Naturals

I have found thhat most commerical dog foods are rated under 100 points and are full of fillers
I have seen this rating system before but I'm not sure how accurate it is!

You might want to take a look at Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble Grandma Mae's is acutally only rated 3 stars out of 6. I think it is probably rated low because it is pretty grain heavy.
Many dogs are allergic to grains so it might be worth it to try a grain free kibble, for example Taste of the Wild or Evo. You can read the reviews on the dogfoodanalysis webpage.
