I cant believe how many people are afraid of boxers. They arent a vicious breed, or at least my whole life I have never heard of it. Whats funny is most people are afraid of them when they are small, so you gotta chuckle when people are afraid of your 5 month old puppy! Just wait till he is full grown!

Geeezz...human stupidity really hurts my brain!
You did the right thing by trying to explain to this block-head that boxers are a wonderful breed! You should be careful though just incase your boy comes into close contact with her yapper. Small yappers do have a tendency to attack bigger dogs (inferiority complex I think), and she sounds like the type who would make a huge issue out of this!
When I had Xena out in the front yard the other day, a group of people were walking by and I heard one say "OMG, look at that pitbull there", then another said "oh look under her belly there, her nipples are so big, she just had babies"!(Xena has never had a litter) And then the first one who said Xena was a pit then said "they have to enforce a law to make sure people can't breed those animals"!! Well...it took a lot for me not to comment, but I find myself constantly trying to correct what people say about Xena, and most of the time it falls on deaf ears anyway! I figure that if a person is that stupid to make comments about something they no absolutely nothing about then they are probably not open to being educated on the subject! So as they were walking by making stupid comments, I sat there and laughed at the entertainment stupid people provide!;) :p

It just drives me crazy! I get so many compliments about how cute he is then you get idiots like this. I defiently don't want to get him hurt but I know for sure I'm not going to tie him up, lol, thats just crazy. I defiently need to get a new higher fence because pretty soon he will be able to jump over it. Is an electric fence and acceptable topic of discussion here?

I don't mean to sound ignorant, (but since we can't discuss it here), where can I go to read about why the group doesn't like invisible fences? I haven't read much about them yet, and all I heard from a friend (who has one and says she tested on herself) was they did not cause pain? I am NOT arguing here I swear, just looking for the place to read bout them, don't lynch me.....lol. Just point me....

Fence jumping is a problem we are haveing. Not jumping over, just on!! Our problem is the neighbors dog does it also. No big major deal except that it is loud and annoying. I feal that if they got to meat!! (face to face) they may not carry on. But the ladys are older, they don't know how to control their dog, and they really don't trust the dog to interact with anyone. Which I can respect totally from my part!! Wise decision on their part not to socialize the dog from the start, NO. But hey who am I to judge!! The fence is five foot right now, it's old, and rotting slightly, and there are slats inbetween the posts where they can see face to face. So we are getting a six foot fence. Where the posts will be right next to each other. And we are going to put some bushes up against that portion of the fence, so running isn't so easy right there.
Just a suggestion.

Mush and kids....

It always amazes me how some very ignorant people refuse to listen when you try to explain about your dog. I was at the car dealorship this weekend with Mush, waiting in the waiting room for my car to be ready. Mush and I had just taken a long hike, so she was exhausted and laying on the floor right next to my chair. There were two other people sitting waiting for their cars as well. In walks this woman with her kid in her arms (kid was approx 6-7 months). Her child was very cranky and figgity. She took one look and me and Mush, and immediately got a scowl on her face, and stayed way far away from us (it was a pretty small waiting room). Meanwhile, Mush is sound asleep. Well, her kid started to whine and do that "mommy i'm tired" kinda cry. Mush heard him and then she started to whine. The mom looked at me and asked "if Mush was going to attack her son for crying". Mush continued to whine everytime her son did, but never left the laying down position. I told her "of course not, it's just that she loves children and it upsets her to hear them crying. She just wants to make them happy again". Well, the mom just gave me a dirty look and walked out of the waiting room. Pissed me off so much. I'm sure if she would have allowed it, Mush would have been able to keep her cranky baby from whining by entertaining him. She loves kids so much, and is so gently and tolerant of them, but this mom had her mind made up about dogs and nothing I could have said or done would have changed her mind. Wish people weren't so closed minded. Meanwhile, Mush continued to lay right next to my chair, and fell so sound asleep, she entertained everyone with her snoring sounds...
