My "Undesireable" white boxer

Yesterday I had Sampson out for a short walk (It was very cold and neither of us really wanted to be out in the first place). Almost half way around the block we ran into an older gentleman also walking his Boxer, a beautiful brindle. By Boxer standards he was massive. Sampson always has been a little small for his age. Anyway, loving Boxers as much as I do I couldn't help but want to pet this man's dog, and compliment him on how beautiful his baby is. He kept eyeballing Sampson who's trying everything he knows to get this man's attention. I couldn't believe when he finally said to me, "Can I ask why you ever chose a white boxer, I mean, he'll never be a show dog. He's white, he's undesireable." I just looked at him and said "You know what, I didn't want a show dog, I wanted a friend and companion, and I got the best of both". Sampson and I continued our walk without another word. Ok, so maybe he is white, and will never be a show dog, but to call him undesireable??? I think my Sampson is just beautiful, and by far the most comical, animated, fun to be around and overall best dog I've ever owned.

Once again this goes to show just how ignorant some people are. There are actually very few dogs that would qualify as a show dog. I think you dog is beautiful. My dogs too are our companion and friend.

What a jerk. You know I always beleive that people insult others to make themselves feel better. This guy was more then likely jealous of your cute baby, and insulting you two to make himself feel bigger. I hope you don't take it to heart, you white boy is so very cute! And only your opinion matters!

Well, he was rude wasn't he? Your baby is gorgeous. You should have told him you focused on temperment and sound health which has nothing to do with the color of the pup but is all about sound breeding. I had the most beautiful fawn girl that collapsed and died at three of BCM so color means nothing to me, or any true boxer lover that just wants the companionship of a great dog. You could have also asked him why he purchased a dog that is clearly larger than the breed standard dictates. And how many ribbons has his dog received-does he love him less if he does not place? Jerk, jerk, jerk...

Good for you. Sampson is beautiful. As for looks, I've always been fond of the brindles. But I'm sure I would take Sampson in a heartbeat. Like you, I have my dogs for companions, not for showing off. And from the looks of your pictures, I would say Sampson is a great companion.
