Hi guys, I have a question about my 1 year old boxer. I had tito since 8 weeks and have tried to make sure he eats healthy. He looks very muscular and strong on his upper body, but his ribs and spine shows a lot. When I took him to the vet he said that boxers grow different. I have a friend that has tito's brother and he has a lot of weight but tito is alot taller. I am just seeing if any has had this problem before or should I just wait. Hes had had to different types of food, the first was Eukanuba for puppies he was on that for a year and nothing. I have changed to Nature Choice for puppies to help build up weight and he has been on that for a month and nothing. If any one has any advice please let know, I want the best for him thanks.

You should be able to see some ribs and spine, not a lot but some. Don't try to put the weight on too quickly either. I heard on the radio yesterday that the lifespan of a dog who is overweight could be up to 50% shorter:eek: Unfortunately, people think their dogs should be fat like them:D Do you have any pictures of him?

You may want to consider a higher quality food too. There is a post in the News section on dog food reviews that is very helpful

hey thanks for your thoughts, I do have pics just trying to short them, I am not that good with computers. He is never tried always running around and his bowel movements our good, so I know he is not sick. He just had a check up a month ago. I will just wait it out even maybe change Vets. thanks again

It sounds ok to me. Pearl's ribs and spine show just a tiny bit. I think some Boxers are more lean than others. I have some friends that have a white and it is very fat. They say, just wait Pearl will get like that too someday. I really don't think so, she's just not fat like their dog and that's what they are used to looking at. Plus they admit they don't ever exercise their dog and Pearl is walked a lot and she goes to daycare one day a week. Since your dog is only 1 y/o and probably won't fill out completely for a while I wouldn't worry overmuch.

you have a valid point with that I should wait it out, I know I will but it makes me nervous to see him like that. I love your pics. thanks
