She's been gone a week. I think I'm holding together pretty well, although I think about her constantly, and little things can make me cry all over again. I almost started crying during my graduation, in front of hundreds of people.

I talked with my mom a bit more about my dad seeing Gretel in the back yard. All day Tuesday, Duke was despondent. He didn't eat, he wouldn't play, he didn't want to go outside, and he wouldn't even sit to be petted. He never acted that way when Gretel left with me to go away to school, so he obviously knew that something more permanent had happened. After my dad saw Gretel in the back yard, Duke's whole attitude changed. He was back to normal that night. She really WAS there to say goodbye to Duke and Lilly. That makes me wonder if she didn't come to see Cookie, too, and I just missed it.

Someday. Someday I'll see her again. For now, I miss her terribly.

I am sure she came to say goodbye too. I know that our peanut came to me a few weeks ago in my sleep. it was very different from any other dreams I have had about her since she went to the RB on 2-15-05, and it was so real, and i was even thinking to myself in my sleep "she is coming to see me" I was aware that she was no longer alive on earth. and i was telling her that she can come see me whenever she wants. it was just after returning from a few weeks away. so i do believe that they can come in many ways to let us know they are ok, and to let us know they are still in our hearts and by our sides.

gretel was a beauty and reminds me so much of peanuts mom, and peanut had she stayed on earth and aged (she was only 6). I am sure gretel was with you when you graduated (congratulations!). she is at peace now and can run and play with all of the babies at the bridge until you see her again.

its hard to believe it now, but time will ease the raw and overwhelming pain of your loss, so i will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this tough time. its been 3 months since peanut left us, and it still hurts, but the tears are less....but still surprise me at random times an di still have her collar by our bed, as well as her ashes for now until summer arrives.

i know gretel and peanut and all the wonderful babies at the RB are together now, and not wanting us to be sad.

rip gretel and peanut (aka "mimi as called by our toddler son before he could fully speak :)
