I'm laughing about the Army crawling under your bed to get to the shoes...so funny.

Everyday I pull the blinds 1/2 way up so Raleigh can look out, if I forget he tries to nudge them up with his nose, he loves to sit and look out the front so that's a good idea to try that, also I was just thinking maybe she likes to chew on shoes as...well she just likes how they feel! the texture and what not.

I think the walking or running before you leave and other toys out are your best bet and put the blinds up for her and see how she does then.

The only time Raleigh has my shoe in his mouth is when we come home, he'll often have one sneaker dangling fron his mouth, then runs off and won't give it to me:)

Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you, but all I know is that when Diva was a pup the house I was living in didn't have any wardrobes - there was literally no storage space in this house - drove me nuts :( I ended up having to put all of my shoes (after losing some to Diva's chewing!) on the window ledges so Diva couldn't get at them - made for interesting conversation when friends visited

Mine have never been chewers so I have no suggestions. The shoe thing might just be her wanting a bit of you. Marlee will take the pajama top I wore to bed the night before with her everywhere she goes on days that I am at work. She doesn't destroy them. Just carries them and lays on them and such. Maybe that's what the shoe thing is. Or she knows you will for sure play the "shoe" game when you get home.
