My puppie wont stop pulling when on leash

Hi
when out walking my Puppie He wont stop pulling, i dont know who takes who for a walk. He gets even worse when some thing attracts is attention, as anyone got any good ideas or tips to help me ?

Any time he pulls on the leash you should stop and wait until he is done pulling (I make Jesse sit) until you go any further. Do a search there are lots of other suggestions on this site.

Have you signed up for an obediance class? If you have not, you should look into it. I have taken obediance class three times, with different dogs. The class really teaches you to teach the dog, I think after time # 3, I am starting to get the grasp of it. Like Morbrian stated, what I learned to do in class was to just stop until the dog stops pulling, you may have to stop every few steps at first, but eventually your dog will get the idea that he is not going anywhere unless he stops pulling. Shelby has gotten pritty good now, but she still has to be reminded sometimes, particularly when she sees another dog that she wants to play with.

Depending on how old your puppy is, you can also teach him not to pull by using treats to teach him to walk by your side. At first, you start out having him by your side and giving him a treat. Then anytime he returns to your side, give him a treat. Also, again, depending on the age of your puppy, when he starts pulling, you stop, call your dog to you and start the other direction. This helps teach the dog that a) progress stops when he pulls b) before you continue (in the direction YOU chose) he has to come back to you.

I hope that helps. Those few tricks have really helped with Abby and her pulling...but she's almost 2. So again, it depends on the age of your puppy.

gentle leader all the way with puppy school we have 2 9mth olds who used to walk us now we walk them much more plesurable experience all round
