Super Boxer
On Saturday Chloe and I were at the doggie park: there were about 12 dogs there... all big guys -- she was the only pup. She took a liking to May, a rottie, and ran around with her. Now, the area where the doggies go leash free is about the size of a football field - in a "pit" - so everywhere is uphill...
Well all of us were hanging out in one corner.... Suddenly May took off and silly Chloe followed. I had horror in my eyes - and May's owner was calling after her to no avail - May was making her way up the hill on the other side.... The worst thoughts went through my head... And then I called her! Puppy class was playing itself out in my head -- and my baby was already really far (no chance of running after her). I said "Chloe... COME!" -- she stopped dead in her tracks, looked at me and made a mad dash straight into my arms... I was praising her along the way - and few people clapped; and this little girl was SO HAPPY. Hopefully this was a lesson learned and she'll remember how good it felt - and will always come... I will sure remember -- it was our first successful recall in a public place - full of dogs...
