My poor Theo

Just got a call fromhis cardiologist we were hoping that his heart problems would decrease after lowering one his branchiodialator but he is worse. He had 1522 pvc and 2 episodes of v-tac durung his 24 hour holter moniter. He hasnt been eating well and his djd and torn acks are acting up. HIs surgery knee is starting to click, he is still running around my yard like a mad man though! He's happy and thats all that matters. We are going to start him on abetablocker for his heart and hope it helps. I have been giving hi calm caps (all natural) to help with his neurotic water drinking and that seemed to help and his pain meds are making him feel able to run and jump! I know the time is coming for him but not today, he's happy. My poor baby, he just turned 4! He is a wonderful dog though.

I am so sorry for what y'all are having to go through. Theo is very lucky that you guys care so much for him and are doing whatever you can. Be strong as he is for y'all.

Hang in there. If he is still hapy, like you said, that is al that matters. Sorry you have to deal with such a nasty thing, hopefully the meds will help Theo out.

So sorry your pup is going through this. As the Mom of an SAS boy I really sympathize. Hope all his days are pain free and joyful. Sometimes I think these guys touch your heart even more than most as they seem to have a specialness about them-boxer wiggles to yours from mine

so i just get the written report from his cardiologist, it is boxer cardiomyopothy, i will start the meds probablly sometime this week.

I am so sorry to hear that. Did the vet give you a prognosis? Hope the meds help and your boy is feeling better

Well now you have a diagnosis so they know how to treat it. Hopefully the meds work and he feels better real soon. Good luck!

they basically told me he is at risk for sudden death but being a boxer ias better then being a doberman, that if he was a dobie he would drop dead but being aboxer he could just pass out all his life and live years with no sudden death, its still possible but less likely. She agreed with me though, she sad he would probablly have a longer life if i severe exercise resticted him but i told her he is going to live his life to the fulliest and she agreed that that was the best thing. we are going on like nothing ever happend, just adding to his pharmacy. I will keep everyone posted, it will take a while to know if he is going to be ok on the meds.

We had a little scare today. He kept fainting. He hasnt fainted for a few hours but is pretty lethargic. His cardiologist wants to up his new meds and hope for the best. hopefully it will help the poor guy. He is so funny thoough. he passes out and then springs back up and is back to normal!

Re: A rough few days with Theo

Theo has been having a lot of his episodes. He goes into vtac, all four limps go stiff and he keels over. The worst part is now he nows when they are coming so he gets up and runs straight towards the nearest person the keels over like he is trying to get our help. Now when the vtac is over, his heart stops for a few seconds and he turns white with a shade of blue. You can feel his heart slowly come back. The dr thinks it might be a bad reaction to his meds, so we are taking him of his heart meds for a few days to ssee if they stop. He hasnt had the meds since yesterday morning and hasnt had an episode since yesterday afternoon. hopefully it was just his meds because he cant live that way. he keeled over on the deck yesterday and fell down the four stairs. now he is not allowed near stair until its under control. he is still shaken up. he wants to be by my side 24/7 which i dont mind, luckly i can bing him to work. the next few days will be a test. If he stops with the episodes we will try a new medication otherwise i cant let him live this way, its not far to him, if you could only see the fear in his eyes right before he keels over, its like a knife in your heart. Please pray for my baby, i am not ready to let him go.
