Bud 06/11/1988 – 06/10/2001
Life for Buddy was as blissful as it could be, for like all boxers he was able to make us do anything he wanted, or forgive him of any sin, with just one look from those soulful eyes. He would unerringly have his muzzle pressed against the front window (spreading “buddy slobber” on it and the curtains) when we got home and wag his stumpy tail for the next 10 minutes!! He had all the classic boxer traits that we all know and love and became so much a part of our family that we are very overwhelmed by losing him.
‘Man’s best friend’. We all know this is true, and it was never truer than with our Buddy. He never ever complained: of the 7 times we moved, including one from New Zealand to Australia; of the two stints he had in kennels whilst we moved; of the series of injections he was given to cure him of allergies – and the plastic disc thing he had to wear whilst his sore ears healed; of the trips to the vet to remove a cyst from his eye; of the time he had a paralysis tick; of the fact that he gradually lost his hearing and some of his sight; of the walks that he insisted we go on toward the end despite the difficulty it gave him and finally of the needle that he had to have to end the pain. You knew that his love and friendship was unconditional. Walks and trips to the beach just wont be the same, and who is gonna eat the crusts off my morning toast now? I miss you my pal.
