I just put the deposit down on my own new pup. Rosie is 5 weeks old, fawn, and I can take her home next friday after she's had her first round of boosters. My family and I are so excited as this will be our first Boxer!! I'll put up some pics soon!

Hi perrybl -

Congrats on finding a puppy. Puppies really need to be with their littermates until atleast 8 weeks of age (minimum). Weeks 6-8 are so important for socialization, and actually in some states it is illegal to sell a pup before 8 weeks of age.

Is there anyway you can bring her home at 8 weeks? Note that if the breeder is letting the pups go home too early, it really should be a big red flag. Sorry to be a downer, here :)

Congrats on your new baby. But I too agree if you can wait alittle longer it would be better for your baby.

Congrats again partyicon

Congratulations! I know you are so excited to get your pup. I would definately say that if you can wait at least until it is 7 weeks (preferably 8 weeks) that would be best. We had to bring our first boxer home at 5 weeks and it was a bit of a challenge (lots of crying and wasn't too keen on solids). He turned out well adjusted. We did a lot of socialization. We took Fred home at 7 weeks since it was the best time for us that I could be home everyday for his first week. We also have an older dog which I believed helped in the transition and socialization and lessons needed to be learned.

Do what is best for you and the puppy and have a great time! Can't wait to see some pictures of your new baby.

Congratulations on your new pup. There is a wealth of wisdom & experience on this web site, please if you can let your pup stay with mom for a couple more weeks. This can help immensly with biting and nipping harshly during play. Good Luck!
