Boxer Insane
The phone rang at 10am this morning ans it was a hospital about an hour away from me, didnt know what to think of the caller ID so I answered it and it turns out my Mom was ina car accident. She was stable but they thought she had some broken veretbrae in her back, was complaing of a sore chest and had glass shards stuck everywhere in her from the windshield. We rushed out there and saw her, she looked pretty scarey with bruised face and covered in blood that they didn't clean off because of the possible broken bones in her back. After staying there for awhile waiting on test results, we decided to step out because she was trying to stay awake because we were there and being on morphine, that is hard to do and she needed her rest.
We decided to go look at the car and where the accident happened while we let her rest. She told me they went up over a bank, and hit 2 big rocks. We get there and see that she was partially right but she left out the part of flying through a rhodendrom (sp?) bush and taking two huge boulders right out of the ground. The car is a total loss and after looking at it, wondered how they were even alive as a road sign went through the windshield and could have easily decapitated my mom.
We went back to the hospital where we were informed that they tranported my Mom to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh which is 2 hours away from me because her back injuries are too severe for them to handle so they sent her to the bigger hospital that handles most of the lifeflights and such in the area. Nine hours later, I am still waiting to hear what is going on as the run more tests and such, the last I heard is they are waiting for a neurosurgeon to see her. Luckily she is able to move her legs and everything but they are worried that one wrong move could leave her paralyzed.
The lady that was with her was also transported to Pittsburgh as she has a broken vertebrae in the same place as one of my Mom's broken ones, the think that when the car landed, it broke their vertebrae, like a compression break.
We are going down in the morning to visit her since they didn't want us there tonight and in the mean time we are just waiting to hear some good news. Please keep her in your thoughts.
