FOr the past week, my 5 month old boxer has had really bad diareah in the middle of the night and has thrown up twice. I don't feel like it is anything serious, because she is still playful and happy acting. ANyone out there ever had this happen, or know what it could be upsetting her stomach?

A food change can cause this -- not to mention the kibble you are feeding her is of really bad quality. Please do a search on quality kibbles. Here are a few:
Canidae (my dogs have excellent results on this food)
Wellness
Solid Gold
Flint River Ranch
There are others as well. Please stay away from kibbles with corn. Corn is a very cheap "filler" that many brands use and, unfortunately, dogs have a very hard time digesting corn (which is why they have horible gas, vomiting, etc.. sometimes).

Thank you so much for letting me know about that. The breeder we got her from started her out on purina puppy chow, so that is how we got on it. I guess I need to do more research on her food. Thanks again! It is so nice to have people who know more to talk to about our boxer

Just another quick note though: As Tulsa Dan would say, Boxers are NOT large breed dogs!!! Thus, they should not be fed large-breed dog food.
Boxers are medium-size dogs, and you can feed them an "all-stages" kibble like Canidae all-stages (wholesome good food for dogs of ALL life stages). The whole puppy vs active dog vs. senior dog foods are somewhat of a marketing scheme

Heres what we do regarding food...I found that the smaller sized kibble (with our boxers anyway) tends to be gulped down quicker leading to digestion problems...not to mention as other posters have said Purina really is a low quality food...we use the Nutromax large breed food...and mix in about 1/4 can Nutromax liver formula with each feeding. The larger kibble seems to keep them from gulping their food down but the liver formula keeps them interested. My kiddos would eat mainly soft food if I let them...but everything I've read says that a hard crunchy food is better all around...One other thing...you might want to keep an eye on wether or not your Baby ate something she should not have...when we were keeping my Mom's horses for her I would wake up to some lovely "presents", especially when the shoer would come out,

When we went food shopping for Cami after bringing her home we too were told to give large breed food by the pet store salespeople. Of course not knowing any better we did. After joining BW, we were better educated and stopped that choice and Cami has been doing great every since changing to Eagle Pack Holistic Select kibble as well as Wellness canned with dinner. there really is a big difference in her overall being. Her coat is tremendous, her stools are far less frequent and smaller. Her energy level is wonderful and her eye boogies have nearly disappeared.

I have incorporated Nutromax into Herkie's food...his situation is a little different though.He loves it...I love it...and his poop is a much better quality.But ALWAYS remember when switching food...do it gradually over a 2wk period so their little bodies can create the enzymes for the new food....it's much better on them this way!Good luck and I hope Macie feels better soon!

macie's diarrehea,make sure it isnt really dark or redishish if it is I would take her to the vet & make sure she doesnt have any sort of gut infection..puppies can eat anything & it'll upset their bowels but they will still be playfully happy...I know I learnt the hardway....also with your diet for her...have you looked into BARF? we have researched it & have decided to go that way & since we swapped over Monday the dogs faeces have been looking alot better for both Molly & Major..... I wish I had done it earlier when I had Chief!
I dont mean to scare you but whilst it could only be the change of diet it's better to make sure than sorry...when Major came down with his gut infection it took about 5 days for him to get really sick.....

My 4 month old was dry heaving in the middle of the night and had some diarrhea ( going on 2 days)with very little appetite, took to the vet this morning and found he has pancreatitus and have had to leave him in an overnight vet hospital to be put on fluid therapy and be given antibiotics. Is pretty serious stuff if left untreated, I just hope I got him in in time to not have any secondary problems( liver function impaired). I was told it could be from fatty foods( which we did give him some steak tablescraps the other night.From now on its strictly his own food, no more sharing with us. I hope your baby is doing better by now , but if not please look into this posibility.My thoughts are with you and hope all is well.
