Thank you everyone for your support and advise. (^_^)

Loki was allowed his first feeding last night and seems to be doing pretty good, he wasn't too sure about the new food (Hill's perscription w/d) but after sniffing it and tasting a tiny bit he decided it was more than edible. He's still not acting 100% and is more cuddly/sleepy than normal but he was fiesty and wanted to wrestle a bit last night so I am not as worried as before. I talked to the vet and they said with the improvement i didn't have to bring him in to stay the night but he still is on observation for a while. They also gave me a recipe for home prepared meals since I am worried about the big increase in food cost over his old food so that's something else I am going to start looking into more. Once again thank you everyone.

My 1 yr old male had it in January. He is now 2 & weighs 75 lbs. & is doing great. He was on IV for 3 days & lost 5-7 lbs. He now has no other foods than a Nutro low-fat food. The one for overweight dogs. We do give him occasionally low-fat treats that we get at the vet. He has done great since that one episode. The food is a little more costly but we did not have to go to the food from the vets which is great. He has filled out well & has a beautiful coat. In researching the disease, it is quite often attibuted to table scraps. Hopefully yours is a single attack & he will improve quickly.

Thanks everyone for your concern. I'm going to visit Chewy in a couple of hours. I hope he is still progressing towards the good and not bad. The vet also told me that dogs who get pancreatitis are usually overweight and eat table scraps, which surprised me because we are very careful not to give any table scraps at all. Sometimes I will give him some fruit, but he's lucky to get that. We feed him Authority dog food from Petsmart, and he walks 3 miles with me every night. I thought I had the healthiest dog ever until he came down with this. I sure am missing him, and my late night walks just aren't the same without him.

I really hope chewy is doing better when you see him today. Keep us updated. Loki may have had a little relapse this morning but I am hoping he just ate his food too fast (it took less than a minute for him to scarf it down). He is acting fine but if he tosses his cookies when he has his lunchtime meal then I am going to have to take him in for an extended stay at the vet.
