Hello All,

When Shaq, my 18 month old boxer encounters other dogs on the street his first and only reaction is he wants to make friends and play. Sometimes, the other dog has a nasty disposition and starts to growl and bark at Shaq as if to start a fight even without Shaq beginning to play at all.

Shaq doesnt react to the other dog's behavior. He doesn't back off or show fear, and he has never barked or growled back. Can anyone interpret this behavior? I am concerned that he will stay in front of the other dog not knowing what the other dog's intentions are and get a nasty bite.

Thank you all for your feedback.

Shaq's Dad.

Is Shaq neutered? My brother-in-laws boxer Brooklyn is un-neutered and is not fazed by any dogs barking at him, he's a solid 80 pound boxer but doesn't do anything when another dog acts aggressive towards him. He's been bit several times and he just walks away and goes to his daddy. Even when he gets bit hard!!

I kinda wish my girl Ally would do that, she's the one starting the tussels with other dogs when i take her out!! We keep her leashed all the time needless to say.

sometimes a dog is just not aggressive so he has no want to fight back, he just wants to be freindly now as your dog gets older he will eventually become territorial and aggressive back especially once he has been intrudoduced to a female.

My girl Cami is the same way. On walks we usually encounter dogs in yards, at doors or out on their own walks. They all bark or growl at her. She has never once growled or barked back. All she does is wag that nub and and try to get to them to play. I am glad that she is not agressive but she seems to think that all people and dogs are just here for her benefit....to be played with. I prefer this method verses the alternative. She is just a very happy (& spoiled) dog!

No he has not been neutered, but my understanding was that when they are not neutered is when they are more aggressive. I just hope he can defend himself one day if he needs to.
