My Heart Is Breaking..Spirit Will Be Leaving

I haven't been on this last week at all. What an emotional roller coaster you've been on. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I wish there was a way you could keep Spirit, but since that is not possible I know you're doing all you can to be sure he goes to the best home possible. i'll be thinking of you all.

Sharon, I am so sorry that you and your family have been on an emotional roller coaster. Perhaps the placement with this one family wasn't meant to be, but rather with this 50ish single former boxer owner. Please let us know how your meeting this man goes ~ Cathy

So this has been one heck of a whirlwind of emotions for us! Let me start by saying that the "single 50ish previous boxer owner" man has obtained himself a black lab he rescued (last minute) from a shelter, so homing Spirit with him is now out of the question. Then a couple I know with a boxer now, came to visit Spirit, hoping that his dislike for other dogs would not include a fellow boxer. WRONG!! Spirit did not like their little Tia at all!! :( THEN, after finally thinking we found the perfect home...close by..no other pets..wonderful people..we packed Spirits bag last night...favorite toys and treats..blankets..harness..toiletries...food, etc., and bid a VERY sad farewell to him and put him in the car. My 2 youngest kids were crying, and so was I. The kids went to bed and I sat on my sofa and bawled my eyes out!! That was at 9:00pm. At 9:45, the people called and said Spirit would not let their 19yr old son get close to him. Apparently he turned into Cujo...raised hackles on his neck and snarling and barking at the son. This disturbed the lady greatly and she felt it would not be a good idea to keep him. She was very sad and felt as though she was disappointing us. I told her she was not giving Spirit enough of a chance. He had to have been confused and frightened. Most people do not understand, and often confuse a frightened dog with an aggressive dog. :( Needless to say, he was home by 10!! The kids thought it was Christmas this morning when the woke to find Spirit sleeping soundly on the sofa with Xena!
I have contacted Boxer Rescue and feel that this would be the best for Spirit. He needs to be with people who fully understand the breed. However, most, if not all, foster homes with rescue already are complete with another boxer or 2 or 3, if not other pets as well. I am at a loss and am very concerned about the time we have left before our move. Spirit needs a good loving home and I will NOT take the first offer that comes along because of the timeing!
So...keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Send out some more <<<BW vibes>>> for Spirit please! I will continue to keep you posted.

Oh, Sharon, you poor poor thing. This has to be just horrible for you and the kids as well as poor Spirit. I can't imagine what you are going through. I am so sorry and am sending tons of <<<<<BW Good Home>>>>> vibes to you guys. Hang in there and try to maintain some sanity.

I feel so bad for you. I just hope rescue comes through and can help you. All this uncertainty ,new homes, then returns just makes everything more difficult for you and your kids. Positive home-finding vibes coming your way.....

aww Sharon I am so sorry. Maybe rescue is the best idea for him. Ive told a lot of family members an such about you and hey said theyd be wiling to take him but most of them already have pets :( I wish you luck in whatever happens

Oh Sharon what a roller coaster you & the kids have been on. I think you are doing the right thing with the rescue. You know they will only let Spirit go into the best home for him. Have they told you when Spirit will go into his foster home?
