I hate to be a downer, :( but keep in mind if management does find out and wants you to get rid of him, they probably won't give you much time to find him a home, so your time to place him would be limited.
I really hope that everything works out for your family, you really have been through enough. It sounds like you have wonderful kids! I really think the biggest imprint we leave behind us our children, and you're obviously doing a great job raising them.
I hope things look up for you all from here on out!

Just to add to a previous post that yes we do have a program that helps people spay or neuter their animals on a "pay what you can bases" here in Ontario. In my home town it is called the "Farley Foundation". I'm not sure if it is in your area or not I give what I can each year and my vet has a barbeque, nail trimmings and pictures to raise money. Perhaps you could check somthing like this out in your home town.
Just a suggestion.
I am very sorry to hear about your situation. You are a very strong women and I can't believe all the obstacles you have overcome in the last year and you are still holding it together. I just hope that if someday I am faced with a tough situation I can be just as strong.
Licks and slobbers from Molly to you!

Hey Sharon,
I've been keeping up with your thread but honestly couldn't handle the emotional roller coaster myself! ;) I'll give you our experience: When hubby and I moved into our first apartment it was a no dogs house. What is Disney 8lbs. on a good day soaking wet! Well we snuck him in. We never flaunted him always looked out the window to make sure the landloard or other tenents wern't outside before we took him out. We did this for 4 years! We were also very careful to make sure rent was early, we wern't loud, kept our side beautiful. We took extra steps tpo make sure we were the perfent renters! Along came Oskar. We in the mean time had purchased our house. He was in the apartment with us for 2 months. Again we stuck to the looking out, and not flaunting. We wereon very good terms with our landloard to the point that he was very upset we were leaving! As it turns out he knew the whole time about Disney and Oskar! I couldn't believe it! But he told us that he never once got a complaint and we were the best tenants he ever had!

Thanks again everybody! I feel very strongly in my heart that this is the best thing for Spirit and for us. I'm sure he will be well behaved...he has Xena to keep him in line! If this doesn't work out and I am told to rehome him, then at least I will know that I've tried the best I could. Mind you, I will no longer search independantly for a new home for Spirit. I think that's best left in the hands of Boxer Rescue. :)
Jenny..lol..figures it was no secret eh!! All that time and you thought you were pulling off the perfect caper!! :p
Maniago, thank you for that info. I am not sure if our city offers anything like that but I am looking into it! I have called the OSPCA 4 times today but am only getting an answering machine. Hopefully someone will call me back today.
Shanz..$500 for spaying Cin!! I have heard as high as $250, but never $500!! Wow..was there something else being done to Cin on top of the spay??
So, I move for the 1st of June, but I may go as soon as this weekend. I am soooo looking forward to this move. I will keep you all posted! :)

I am wishing you all the best of luck. I really think that since they allow one dog, if you take good care of things and don't let them be destructive, they really won't care if you have both if they find out down the road. Just be super careful to keep everything cleaned up and be a model tenant and it won't give them any reason to have you get rid of him. Hope the move turns out to be a good one!

Sharon-

Cins surgery was done by lazer. It also included all the pre-op blood work, IV fluids etc. I know its expensive sounding but I honestly called every vet in Ottawa Stittsville and Kemptville. It wouldve been heaper at some of them had I already been a patient of theirs but because I wasnt it would cost me whatever they charge for an appointment ($50-60) so it just added up to being the same.

Im glad your going to try to keep him. :)

This will be a wonderful new start for your family. :) You've been through a lot in the last year or so and I am looking forward to seeing you and your family in a nice home, especially away from your crazy landlord and his crazier gf. Good luck with the move - moves are stressful but I think in your case it will be much welcomed.

(((keeping the positive vibes coming)))

I can't help but think that all of the bad luck recently with potential homes for him is a sign. A sign that he is mine forever. Am I being selfish..nuts?? I'm losing my nerve and am afraid that I won't let him go.

Sharon,
I have been following this thread and I kept on thinking the same thing that it is a sign that he belongs with you. You are not being selfish. The way I look at it is if you were selfish you would easily just cast him aside at the first available home.
I also think you should try to keep Spirit & see what happens.
Your son sounds like a great kid for offering to help.
I hope everything works out & your ENTIRE family can stay together.
Best of luck to you!!

I think you should keep Spirit too!!!!!!!!!

I have looked at your gallery before! He gets along so well with Xena. It makes me sad to even THINK there wont be more pictures!!!!!

Maybe for an additional fee, the place will let you keep him. I say you tell them too bad, he is a member of the family. If they really want to make some $$, they might be able to make arrangements, or exceptions. Maybe an interview or something. They do that in apartments to make sure the dog is friendly.

Or maybe you will have to sign a release in case something DOES happen.

I dont know!!?????

I hope you can keep him. Sorry if this post is off....i didnt read the whole 10 pages, but did want to wish you good luck!!!!
