Hi everyone, I was just curious about a few things. I know this is probably a question thats asked a lot, but I just wanted to know if my girl is at a normal weight. She turned 6 months about a week ago and is only 33.6 lbs. I'm told that she is petite for a boxer but since she's our first, y'know how it is.

Also, is it normal for her to have eye boogers every morning like she does? Her eyes don't run during the day and they are bright and clear, but every morning she has gobs of boogers in her eyes. But, after I swipe them out with a paper towel they don't return till the following morning.

And one more question. Does your Boxer love Elk Antlers? I let her sniff one in PetSmart the other day and after letting her hold it in her mouth, she wouldn't put it down (to my dismay, I was quick to realize those things are like $26!! The deer ones are cheaper, but she wanted the elk one, of course...) They put up a good fight though,, she's been working on it and has barely put a dent into it. She won't even touch the flavored/basted beef femur bone that she used to dote on.

Thanks for reading!

I've never owned a female so I can't really help you on that issue, but all boxers vary in size and weight so I don't think that you have anything to worry about, the eye could be due to allergies, and as far as the anlters go, they are great. My husband is a deer hunter and we have an abundance of antlers hanging in our garage and Toby has been chewing on them since he was about 4 months old, he's 8 months now and he LOVES them! I had no clue that they sold them at the pet stores, but saw them at Feeders Supply the other day for outragious prices! They keep him occupied for hours and it keeps him from chewing on fruniture and wood baseboards in our house, lol. I hope that helps you somewhat :)

My 8 week old puppy was waking up with eye gunk/boogers every morning and after naps. The vet said it was the dog version of pink eye and contagious to people as well. Our little guy's gunk was green not sure if its the same for you. He has an ointment we have to place in his eyes twice a day for 10 days and after the first day I haven't seen any more gunk on his eyes.

My female is 37 lbs and 9 months, my male is 57lbs and 9 months brother and sister from the same litter. My friend has two boxers one male one female and there from the same parents as mine and there 15 months. The male is smaller than my male about 50lbs and the female is 60ish. Point being each dog is different, it matters what you feed them (no need to overfeed) My dogs eat iams and I also add in some of the wet chunks to supplement there diets.

My 6 y/o female is barely 50 lbs. The females usually tend to be quite a bit smaller than the males. Eye boogers come with the breed, but if they're excessive I'd have it checked out. My girl still gets them in the morning, but like your pup once I clean them out they don't return until the next day. Kind of like getting the sleepy out of our eyes in the a.m.

Oh, wow! I didn't know that could happen. Glad to know that my girl just has the nasty regular clear boogers haha....

Okay, thanks everyone on the weights. I can't believe that HurleyGirls 6-year old is barely 50 lbs! I guess I'm just used to the boxers in my area,, I wonder if people are intentionally trying to breed them bigger?? They always seem so big!

My American Bulldog mix is about 60 lbs., and I was worried about him getting joint issues so he gets the Blue Buffalo Large Breed dog food. Now that Chevy just turned 6 months, I just let her eat what he eats. Shouldn't be a problem, right? :\

Glad to hear that! Getting eye ointment into 2 eyes twice a day on a wiggly puppy who thinks humans are his own personal chew toys is.....interesting HAHAHA

Emma is 3 and only just got over the 50lb mark and she's finally filling out more in the hip area. Don't worry about her being small...

The Elk antlers though, I've had them before where the left little dots of "red" all over the carpet due to the slobber/drooling and excitement over them . Deer haven't ever left marks but I've since bought smaller Elk antlers and they seem to be fine. The dogs LOVE them though and will each simultaniously let go of their own to switch places and work on the other one after a while.

Good luch with eye boogies - they are a common design feature found all over my house. If I haven't gotten to them to wipe them off after naps they seem to be flung everywhere on walls (curtesy of the earshake) or on furniture they've used to wipe their face. Emma will litterly rub her face between cushions to scratch her face...
