Well, today I was bored & decided to devote my boredom to locating a reputable breeder. Considering we're not looking for another year or MORE for another puppy, I felt I would be the most cynical RIGHT NOW, and therefor wind up with the BEST boxer then.
I could never tell the difference until BoxerWorld. Looking at members pictures on here, you can TRULY tell the difference between well bred (For example, Olly's dog.. ::sigh:: beautiful, & Gwenyth's ::sigh again: verses us regretful BYB buyers ::even though we ALL love our little BYBredBoxers::. And decided after longingly admiring all the true, PERFECT boxers, that I WILL have one when I get my next baby.
Well my search was EXTREMELY rewarding. I located a BoxerClub site (which actually linked to BoxerWorld's info about health testing), which listed "reputable breeders". I emailed ALL breeders from NY (even ones with outdated websites) asking if they were still breeding, and what their practices were like (health testing, ect.). The first woman wrote back immediately with a questionare about my intetions, and information on her health testing, and showing. The second person wrote back telling me to contact the first woman, as she did not have available litters. I will be writing back soon letting her know I am not looking for immediate.
It feels so good to not be over-powered by ANXIOUS & actually getting somewhere, and locating these seemingly hidden reputable breeders!

My ducks are getting in nice neat little rows for when I do what a baby, and it feels fantastic!!!

I'm glad things are working out in your search

DO ensure that any breeder you end up dealing with is indeed showing their dogs and can (ie. DOES) provide you with copies of the health testing results for each of the parents though. It's an easy thing to say they do it, and easy to be on a list somewhere. But in this world, you really do need to physically see the specific results. A truely reputable breeder should be delighted to give copies of the results to you (before you see a puppy).

i am glad you are starting early with finding a reputable breeder, my husband and i plan to do the same thing although it is hopefully at least another 8-10yrs before we start looking. we actually found the byb who bred our rescue dog and sold her to an abusive home and although i do get on my soapbox i don't hesitate telling people interested in boxers about my Tessie's story and try to get them looking else where.

oh i most definitely will. i'm really kind of angry because i found TWO litters from reputable breeders (thats not to say I would be "picked" as both said they like to find the BEST candidates, ect., but STILL!)! where were these when i got my little backyard puppy!? :( haha oh well, she's still a cute little angelface!
hopefully since i will have located a couple, narrowed down the ones that are "shiesty", and weeded out the ones that are just breedin' in their backyards, the whole anxious part won't be AS bad when we decide to get bella a little health tested, boxer standard-meeting brother ! haha
i want a "black one" ;-) hahaha juuuust kidding, i want a REVERSE BRINDLE!
