Boxer Pal
I just switched both of my dogs to Wellness food Tuesday last week.
Since yesterday my boston terrier has had extremely running bm's and horrible gas to the point where you have to leave the room. Could she be having a reaction to the food or just be sick? She's never had this problem before and I'm concerned b/c there's been a few times where she can't make it out of the house or goes in the middle of the night on the floor. Is there anything I can give her? She's 1 1/2 and has been house trained for quite sometime now.

Thanks to any advice.

If you didn't make the food switch gradually, she has an upset stomach IMO from switching too fast. Try giving her some boiled chicken and rice. Small amounts a few times a day. Should help her out in a day or two. Then I would mix the chicken/rice with the wellness until she is used to the wellness.
I am sure someone else will chime in with more advice for you.

This happened to Cody when he was a youngster. The vet had us put him on a 24 hr fast. Then we started in with small amounts of chicken and rice. Then after about 4 days of that we started mixing the kibble with the "bland" diet. Good luck.

still sick

She had 2 accidents over night in house. Wouldn't the upset stomach happen right away or a week later? She's always been a picky eater so if we change her food she just picks the new food out and won't bother with the old. I'll try giving her some chicken later today. Does it matter what kind of rice? White or brown?

Thank you for your help.

Changing diet fast can affect lots of dogs. However speaking from experience with a previous dog, some dogs are extremely intolerant of any dietary changes. Even if changing gradually to a very high quality food. I would try the chicken and rice (sorry, don't know if it matters what kind of rice) until her stomach straightens out and then gradually introduce the new food. But you may find that she cannot eat the food you want to feed her. She might be one with a very delicate stomach.

dog food

I switched her from Nutro to Wellness. She's always had a very sensitive stomach but I wanted to put both her and my baby boxer on the same brand since they were eating each others food. She seems fine now and is playing and acting like nothing is wrong.

Thanks to everyone for your advice.

Brandi- I just switched my guy to Wellness last week and experienced the exact same thing. Which one are you using...we are doing the Super5Mix Whitefish and Sweet Potato. I am wishing I did Core now and am still thinking of switiching to that instead. I actually had to call the vet this morning because his tummy was making awful noises for 2 whole hours. We ended up giving him Pepto and that helped. I am still not convinced I made the right food choice.

Eagle Pack Holistic makes two products: http://www.eaglepack.com/Pages/HS_DigestiveAids.html. If you click on "where to buy" it appears that you could order some online and have it shipped to you if you if you're interested.

They are probiotic/digestive enzyme supplements. We've used the Holistic Solution when we first rescued Star and she had been eating Purina One. She had runny poops, so we used that and it really seemed to work for her as we switched her over to Innova. We didn't have the Holistic Transition available at the time or we would have tried that instead.

We also used the Holistic Solution when she had a diarrhea episode (reaction to Heartguard), and it worked well then too.
