Completely Boxer Crazy
Dharma Bernice Jellybean....
You came into our lives over 3 years ago after a 930 mile journey from Northwest Georgia up to Wisconsin. As soon as we saw your beautiful face and your soulful eyes we knew you were meant to be a part of our pack up here. I admit...taking a chance on a dog who you've never met, transporting them across the country, and hoping for the best is a pretty reckless move - a risk I'd normally never take but there was something about your sweet eyes that drew us in and we took a chance. A chance to rescue a sick, emaciated senior girl knowing we could have weeks with you - or years. A huge network of transporters and rescue people came together to get you to us and most of those people have had the pleasure of following your journey with us as well.
The house is quiet without you - although most of your time was spent sleeping on your 'throne', you managed to make quite the amount of noise around the house (as I'm realizing now that you are gone). When you were awake you were always protecting our house from the strange people, animals, and any moving object that came by. Thank you for always protecting our pack. Rocky also misses you and seems lost without his older sissy to snuggle.
We miss your sweet eyes and your sassy 'seal' bark demanding cookies when we were in your 'treat zone' area as we called it. We miss the way you looked up at us when we were on the couch - waiting for us to invite you up so you could snuggle. We miss the rhythmic noise of you licking...your paws, the couch, Rocky, our arms. And the way you turned around 12 times before settling in for the night on your bed in our room. I miss you trotting inside after you pottied and the fact that you knew after your bedtime snack that it was time to go right to bed. You'd always beat us to the bedroom and start settling in without us saying a word. You had the routine down.
I know you are running around now - without that fused spine - without ANY pain - and are able to move and curl up like a normal dog can. I wish I could see you truly free -we never had the pleasure of knowing you as a young pup but sweetie - we always knew you were a spitfire as a pup. I can't imagine how much fun you are having up at the bridge romping around. I imagine it feels good to have a body that doesn't keep you from doing the things you want to do.
Although we miss you here - and will continue to do so - I know helping you to the bridge was the right decision as your body was just too weak to continue on. Please give us a sign that you are ok - we all feel lost without you.
Love you sweet girl. Thank you for opening our eyes to the rewarding experience of rescuing a senior. Thank you for being a fighter and for blessing us with over 3 years to love you. You will be forgotten....you will always be in our hearts.

What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful girl. Run free at the Bridge, sweet Dharma.
