I have a one year old white male boxer an today he died in my arms with no signs it was coming.the other day he got lose an ran..we got him only because he feel after running about a block an a half.We brought him home an he was fine. Then the night before last he went to jump in bed an just fell over for no reason. We made an appontment at the vet for friday. My mom called home today to check on himn an he was ok. he had been on the chair since i let him in.it's cold here so i could not figure out why he was panting so heavy after coming in. i picked him up put him on the couch covered him up an he laid there fo awhile till someone walked by my window. He jumped up went looked outside got on the chAIR an stayed there for a minute an then he got down an sort of like shook abit like a sizure i guess an fell over an convolced for a few seconds an then wwe got him up he stummbled like 5 feet an fell over. He was breathing real funny then he just looked up at us as if to say bye an then he was gone....
We have no health trouble with him in the time we have had him. he has no papers because he is white but his parents both do. i just have no idea about what happened an i can't afford an autopsy. is this sort of thing common? please any iformation anyone might have would be great. thank you so much for you time an help. my e-mail address is mirandar7@gateway.net

I am so very sorry for your loss. It is very hard when we loose them. It sounds to me too like he may have suffered from cardiomyopathy. You will find alot of support on petloss.com and can even place a tribute to your pet there. My heart goes out to you and your family and again I am truely sorry for your loss....

How terrible. I am so very sorry of your loss, I don't know what I would ever do. You have my deepest sympathy, as Charlie was obviously loved very much. Take care and remember the good memories that Charlie gave you.

I wish there was more I could do. It sounds like poor Charlie was well loved and that is all any of us can hope for in this life. My heart goes out to you and your family, I can understand the loss you are feeling now.

You may wish to contact his breeder to let them know of this so that the other pups in his litter, or sired by either parent can be checked for heart problems (it does sound like Cardiomyopathy). It won't bring your beloved Charlie back but it may prevent this from happening to a beloved member of another family.

I'm so sorry this happened; how sad. You're in my thoughts; your baby is safe at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

I am so very sorry for your loss. It must have been such a shock for you and I can only imagine how terrified you must have been at Charlie's odd behaviour before he passed away. Sometimes we feel so helpless when someone we love is ill and then we feel guilty that we didn't do everything possible to keep them alive. While I understand that you are hurting, please don't feel guilty. Charlie sounds as if he had a loving, caring home and we can't always prevent things like this from happening no matter how hard we try. Keep Charlie's memory close to your heart and remember that, one day, you will be reunited at the Bridge. God Bless. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
