My carpet!!!!

If you really want to get your carper clean, rent a carpet cleaner...When I moved into this place the landlady had cleaned the carpets..and (long story short) when we got the rest of the other tenents 'stuff' out of the last room, we used the carpet cleaner on a REALLY dirty carpet The carpet came out clean and looking 100% better than it was. I dont think they are too exepensive, the landlady got hers at the local grocery store. And it wasnt that hard to use either. If you dont want to do that..Then Resolve is what I use on those annoying puppy stains..

I wouldn't waste you money becasue they will just keep your deposit anyway. Two weeks before I moved out Lexus had a bladder infection and needless to say the carpets got a little soiled. I cleaned up the messes immediately and there was no outward appearance of any stains. However, when I got my deposit back they kept $100 for urine on the carpet. Suppossedly, there is some way for a professional carpet cleaner to see the spots - plus they can soak into the bad. I don't know if it untraviolet light or not. Don't waste your money or your time. Just let them have the deposit.

I use a product called "Citra-Solve" which is an organic cleaner I buy at the health food store. It takes out pet stains and odors (it smells like fresly cut oranges).
The key to carpets is this: blot up any urine immediately, and get as much as possible. I used the old piddle pads Maggie would never piddle on. Super absorbant diapers work well too. I put a book or something heavy on it and it absorbs up most all the urine. Then I thoroughly clean with either Citra-Solve or Simple Green (available at most hardware stores and K-Marts, I think), and then let that dry completely. Then I use a Pet Odor Remover I got from the petstore to remove all traces of odor so Maggie wouldn't think that was "her spot."
Funny, my carpets are now cleaner than before I got Maggie and was housetraining her. We seem to be over the housetraining stuff now and she hasn't had an accident in quite a while, but the carpets sure do look better :D

Yes, they basically use forensic science to find urine stains that can't bee seen with the naked eye. I think they use ultraviolet light.
Our apartment has a $350 non-refundable deposit for each pet, plus $50 per month. Obviously, people try to sneak pets in without registering them. They use ultraviolet to see if you ever had a pet. I think they can find urine stains and hair.
I wonder if my dogs accidents will show up? He was always supervised as a pup, so when he had an accident they were cleaned up promptly using a bissel carpet cleaner. It is one of those machines that squirts a cleaning solution and also sucks it up. We always sucked up the accidents immediately so they wouldn't soak in, and then we applied alot of cleaning solution and sucked it up. There is no evidence by the naked eye, no scent, etc. But I bet it will still show up on ultraviolet. But who cares... my $350 pet deposit is non-refundable anyway. I am just curious.

I use Spot Shot. I get it from Walmart and it's in a blue can with an orange lid. It works really well. Our carpet is a couple of shades off from white and urine stains are not a problem. Like somebody else said though you need to soak up the urine as soon as possible. I will soak it up until it doesn't feel wet then use the spot shot to take out the yellow.

Thanks for all the great ideas guys. My carpet is grey and I went to home Depot and bought some of there high traffic carpet cleaner! It works wonders. My boyfriends mom has one of those steam cleaners so I bought a gallon of that stuff and am going to steam away. It seems as if it made a huge difference where I used it to spot clean. Thanks for all the good advice I will keep it all in mind!
