My Boxer's Head wobbles left and right usually while laying down

My 5 year old boxer Tiny recently developed a head wobble where he is completely alert and responsive to commands for about 10 sec to 2 minutes (usually happens when i wake him or he lays to sleep). He has no diet or exresize changes in 3 1/2 years(thou in the spring/summer/fall months more active). I put no flea medications on him take organic steps and measures to prevent them. he is accually over due for immunizations and such. He has had no surgeries (unless you count the tail docking and due claws removed) but none recently anyways. I have looked at multipule sites all day today reading post after post , link after link all over the web with little to no clarification till i found a site (will link at end). Keep in mind I have not been yet but have a vet apointment schedualed for testing and such (hope it is nothing serious)., but when i read this site it took a huge load off my mind worry wise). hope that if your dog is having simalar problems then this site will help you too (but keep in mind that this is just for the slight sezure like head wobble not severe or any area besides neck to head ).Plus i have no idea how well researched or tried and tested this doctor is either) In the address it states bulldogs but the topic in discussion is bully breeds as whole bulldog boxer etc.. but to bring my text wall to a close any more links anyone or your own experiences with your dog info would be greatly appeciated!! I didn't read the page you attached, but just want to let you know that my baby went through this as a pup and regularly until he was about two. Head tremors are relatively common in puppies, some say they are attributed to underdeveloped neurological systems. Loki would have head tremors when awakened from a deep sleep or right before he was about to drift off to sleep. He could always answer commands during the tremors, sit, lie down, paw...never seemed to bother him! Loki is 8 years old now and hasnt had a wobbly head for years! Talk to your vet, but overall I would not worry! Good Luck! xoxo

This can be a sign of hypothyroidism. Thor was getting these seizures about once every month or two before diagnosed. He's been on meds since last Aug and I think he has had only one, maybe two seizures since then, and those were short. Have your vet run a thyroid panel. If this is what is causing them, it can easily be managed with medication.

Our last boxer was diagnosed with focal/motor(head bobbing) seizures and had them his whole life(one every few months at most...usually just a couple a year). He could walk, respond to commands, etc. They never seemed to bother him. They did become VERY frequent (5-10 a day) in the end when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I don't know if over time they cause the tumor or if the tumor just brought them on. I'll have to check out that link. Thanks!

This sounds alot like what we went through last summer with our baby Homer. Did you see anything about an inner ear infection while you were researching? We took him to the vet twice before they decided to tell us they thought he had a brain tumor, omg! Cried our eyes out for days and then called a previous specialist we had been too and she said to go right to a neurologist. After a course of strong antibiotics he was great! I hope you find out what's going on with Tiny, it's so important to do your own research too. Good luck and keep us posted.

My Sarge will be 5 in a few days on the 10th. He also had head tremors when he was a few months old. Now I have witnessed some sort of spell he has been having about 7 months apart lately. Where he is almost in a panic he comes to me Stumbling, trying to stand and breathing louder than usual. He looks at me and knows that I will try to comfort him and he doesnt urinate when this happens, so I dont think it is a seisure, because he doesnt stare blankly either. He totally knows what is happening. It scares me to death, and it usually lasts for 2 to 3 minutes, and all I can do is reassure him that I am there and hold him in a spot so he doesnt try to walk and fall since he cant stand up right.Its like he loses control of his legs its very scarely and I have talked to the vet about it and he doesnt get concerned about it or offer any advice!

What you are describing seems heart related. Actually I am not a vet but am about 99.9% sure this is what you are dealing with based on your description. I'd RUN not walk to a cardiologist ASAP. A dog doesn't have to collapse completely and lose consciousnesses for heart problems to be present. When you add all the symptoms up....
Panic behavior, stumbling & trying to remain standing and breathing harder than usual..... IF you have given this same description to your vet then he should have sent you off to a cardio especially since you are dealing with a Boxer.
Not trying to scare you but you need to get an accurate diagnosis and possibly treatment. Sometimes when they have these episodes they don't come back from them.
