My Boxers a Brat! Help!

Before I got my boxer, I read that they were big lap dogs and they love to lay with you, but my Maggie asks as if she is Miss Indepedent. If anyone goes and sits by her, she gets up and lays some where else. She will only lay at the end of my bed, not beside me. Sometimes she won't even lay on the bed but on the floor. Is this just a puppy thing or what. She is Six months today. Wow! It goes my fast.

what a little stinker butt!

My girl is 5 months and is acting the same way once in awhile, I want a cuddly mommy pup and she practically rolls her eyes at me! BUT, if I leave a room she is right behind me, she does not like me being in a different room than her for some reason.

My boxer boy, Deeg, is the same way. I have worked with him since we first got him from the rescue so he is getting better. Now he seems to enjoy being close or giving him hugs (I think) but it has taken a lot of work to get him to this point. In fact, today is an important day for Deeg and I, he actually took a nap next to me...yahooooo!

My Oscar boy did this too around that age. I think they are just exploring their independence and going into that "teenager" sort of age. (ie. the snotty looks they can give you sometimes ) Now my boy is a total cuddle bunny. I'm sure she will come around. I wouldn't let it stress you out too much.

Isis is usually my shadow and has to be wherever I am, sleep with me, sit next to me etc., but she does like to be left alone sometimes. If I am all over her fussing and loving on her, after a while, she wants a break! It's like she's thinking "Ok Mum, I know you love me but give me my space" !!! :rolleyes: She has different moods too and does give me attitude when it is Monday morning and time to go back to work! She won't meet my eyes and sighs alot - sometimes she won't even get out of bed because she knows I'm leaving her for the day. Spoiled mutt. She's 9 1/2 years old...

Bella my little spawn of does this too, Bubba is my big lap dog and wants to be loved all the time...Bella will walk away and come back when it is convenient for her...

Maybe you should have a sit down conversation with Maggie and tell her the traits of a Boxer and tell her she is breaking the rules! LOL! Lily will sometimes do this as well but most of the time, especially car rides, she likes to sit in our laps.

Send her to my house and I'll send you my Siren. I can't tell you how many times I've tripped over her fathead because she is ALWAYS underfoot. Anywhere I sit - she's got to sit right by me and has to be touching me. NOw that I think about it.....both my dogs do that. Most times I don't mind - but when I'm not in the best mood it drives me CRAZY! Right now I'm on the couch with the laptop in my lap (go figure huh?) and she's sitting on the floor with her head on one thigh and my pin is giving me the "Mom you're a jerk" look because I won't get the laptop outta HIS lap. I think somedays I'd rather have a dog that doesn't want anything to do with me!!

It seems to me that girls are more independant than boys. But, now, Roxy has finally come around (she's about 1 1/2) and the last few months she has finally realized that it is a much better life to be spoiled and disgustingly rotten than aloof and independant. Keep giving her love and attention, I'll bet she'll come around.
