simple solution...

My darling Belle found the litter box and ate a turd one day so I moved the litter box up on top of a dresser in the spare room.

Belle still goes in there looking for it but she can't even find it on top of the dresser.

The cats have no problem hopping up there and doing their business. Its good exercise for them.

Hope this helps.

Just say no to poop-breath!!

My hubby makes this joke all the time. I have three cat boxes and they are all strategically(sp) placed so the dogs can't find them it works fine.. If they could get to them they would, just one of those things. I have one under the headboard, one under the futon and one in the closet with an area just big enough for the cats.. I have three kittys and three dogs..

A Solution!

I have mentioned this in other forumns and on newsgroups, as so many people have problems with their dogs getting into the kitty litter box and its contents. My dogs included. I happened upon a kitty hole. If you go to www.cathole.com, you will see what I mean. I am not really into advertising for someone else, but, this product has been such a blessing for both our Boxers and our cats. The kitty hole is on the door that leads to our basement where the litter box is kept. The cats have all the privacy that they need and the security of being able to escape the dogs when they feel the need to, and the dogs aren't getting in trouble for digging into the kitty's litterbox contents.

Just thought I would mention that many knowledgeable cat people dislike the covered litterboxes as cats dislike the strong odors they retain and some cats begin to look elsewhere to eliminate. Just FYI.

I will post a pic of Duncan next to his CatHole in my picture gallery to show you what it is.

Good luck!
Cindy W. :)

It's funny to see all of these replies. I was hesitant about putting this question out in the open. I thought my dog was challenged in a different way than most. Boy am I wrong. There are lots of challenged boxer out there. Thanks for all of the feedback. I forgot to ask the puppy trainer tonight what she thinks will help that but it's on my agenda for next week.

Sampson hasn't discovered the kitty box treats because we have an automated litterbox. I know it sounds silly but my finicky cat is happier and I'm happier.:)

Can't tell you all how thrilled I was to find this thread on this morning!! While visiting my father in the country this weekend, Fletcher (3 mos) discovered not only the cat's litter box, but Goose deposits on the lawn. As if that is not disgusting enough, it seems that he has some "litter" stuck in his throut, because he will randomly start coughing and heaving, like he has a furball. The good news is that it has not affected his eating or drinking, but there is clearly something bothering him.

Has anyone else had this happen to their cat poo eaters????

You can always try to train the cats to use the toilet....there was a thread describing techniques to toilet train your kitty up here about a week and a half ago..people have been successful:) otherwise I would say raising the litterbox up high or installing a kittydoor of some kind would help to solve the problem..
