I just got my male boxer (MAX) 4 weeks ago. He was the shortest of the litter, not by much, but also the stockiest. In the four weeks I have had him he has only gained 4-5 pounds and is hardly any taller. I know it has only been four weeks but I have seen 2 of his siblings just recently and they are much taller. Could something be wrong with him? He eats prettty well (3- 3 1/2 cups per day of science diet). Should I feed him something else? I feed him 3 times per day. Thanks.

try this

hi I just recently got a baby boxer her name is Shelby and she is growing like a weed. I also feed her science diet, although I leave her food dish filled all day.... Until she reaches the age of 6 months then i will feed her only 3 times a day. I too had a problem excepet Shelby was growing tall and not stocky... So i told the vet and he said that because science diet is such a strong dog food but very good for them, to feed her a bowl of dry dog food with hot hot water added to the dish so that the crunchies absorb the water then it is softer for the pup to chew. But still not harmful to your pup... Because they are so young and teathing and loosing their baby teeth you do as you would to a baby and make it more sutable for thier teeth and gums. So as soon as i got home that day i tried it and she loves it and has been gaining more weight.... Try this and if it works please let me know... jescott96@home.com thanks and good luck.:p

Growth of a pound a week, at that age, is pretty normal. I'd say your dog is growing just fine. Not all dogs will come out the same size or have the same growth patterns and timing as other dogs, even from the same litter. Boxers look "thin" for quite a while when they are puppies.

If the dog is eating well, and shows no signs of weakness or listlessness, and otherwise seems healthy, do not worry about it. He will grow at his own pace.
