Does anyone know how long it will roughly take to get my little pup back to normal after he gets fixed today. He is 8 months old and 50 pounds he is kind of the runt.....He seems pretty slow right now but he is probably just getting the anestetic out of his system...

Any tips to help the healing process>?

he will probably be his old self in a day or two.
Napoleon was about 9 months when he was fixed and he was just down for a day. Not really even down, he was still drugged.
I wouldn't let him play hard or run for a few days. If he hurts himself, he will stop.

My female was 8 months old when we adopted her from SPCA, and they fixed her. She was groggy and sleepy for about 1.5 days. After that, it was like nothing had ever happened. We had to settle her down all the time and crate her at night to keep her from hurting herself. Her incision looked totally healed after about 3 days, but made her take it easy for about a week just to be sure.

Toby slept most of the first day and night after his surgery and even peed in his kennel, poor thing :( but the next day it was like nothing had happened and we had to work really hard to keep him quiet, but he recovered really fast, lol. Boxers...ya gotta love em :)

Thanks.,..

Thank you for the replies.....I just wasnt sure what was normal....

Weston is just laying on the floor at home hitting his ball with his nose and waiting for me to throw it to him so I guess he is taking it pretty good....The hard part like the rest of you said is keeping him from going bonkers and wanting to run and jump...

Thanks again
