My Boxer Can Swim!

We took Tyler to a doggie beach yesterday and found out he can swim! In fact, at one point, he was the farthest out of any of the dogs (and being the worrier that I am my husband was halfway out to get him at this point!) He had the BEST time. He didnt hestitate at all and just started jumping around in the water and really swimming. He was trying to get other dogs to play with him in the water but there were mostly labs and retreivers there who were only interested in fetching. We were so proud of him except that he didnt listen to us AT ALL while we were there. He is usually very good with recall but at the beach it was like we didnt exist. We will have to work on that. We can't wait to go back - especially Tyler.

That's awesome! It's great exercise for them especially when it's so hot out. I wish we had doggie beaches up here, my girl loves to swim too.

It's a hoot to watch them swim-my girl is so competetive she would drown before she let one of the boys beat her!

It was so cute, DH was on a boogie board out in the water, and they seemed to be worried about him and would swim out to see if he was okay, but in the process got swamped by some waves. haha. They were okay though. They had a great time and we will definetly have to make another trip out there.

Mira isn't very comfortable in the water, but I keep trying (she's only 10 months old, so she was too little to get in the water last fall and it's only been the last month or so that the water's been warm enough for me to want to try to get her in).

So cool that Tyler loves the water. I would be so sad if Mira didn't like it ... my last dog (St. Bernard/lab mix) LOVED going swimming!

No, we were so upset that we didnt bring our camera - we would have gotten some great shots. Next time we will definitly take pics.

Awwwwwww..... sounds like your baby had such a great time!!!! It's such a fantastic feeling when you find out they can swim!!!! I'm sure he's excited to go back!!!! Sounds like my Sam!!! You can't get him out of the water for anything!!!! Can't wait to see pics if you can catch them next time!
