My baby girl was so mean!

This weekend we had Misty, our good friends brindle, for the weekend. Prancer and Misty play together at least once a week, and Misty stays with us several time a year, and Prancer with Misty's family.

Well this time Misty brought a new huge rawhide to share. It was the larger than life, weights more than a boxer puppy, 3 foot long one! But Prancer would have none of it. She wanted the entire rawhide for herself. She even snapped at Misty when she tried to chew on the other end.

Prancer has never showed any agression about food or treats before. The two of them will wait for treats with no trouble at all. Prancer and Misty even eat out of the same bowl at the same time! I was so disappointed in Prancer I took the rawhide away.

I hope this was just a fluke, but I am afraid to test it out again.

I know what you mean. Chews are the only things that my Sadie and Penny will fight over. Step-sisters who just suddenly turn on each other! Nothing really bad but Sadie, who is usually willing to let Penny take ANYTHING from her (even out of her mouth), will snap at Penny and act like a big meanie over a chewie.

Penny is very jealous over most things but Sadie only has a passion for that one special thing.

I think some of it has to do with both of them being females.

Here too, I can never give just one raw bone to my two... and sometimes even when there is one bone for each dog, my BooBoo who is normally the sweet, patient one will try to take both of the bones at the same time. He intimadates his little sister so much that she'll just walk in circles around him mopping and crying...

so I have to separate them and give them their own space to chew their bones...

My moms dog fight so bad over pig ears and rawhide chews we have stopped giving them any all together. Even when they each have one the other wants both of them. Whats in those darn treats? They lose their minds!!

my two are the same with meat bones - every time they have had one (and they get one each) the last time hubby had to go outside and separate them as they were getting nasty with each other when i went out here's hubby sitting holding a bone in each hand while the dogs ate them - he reckoned it was easier.

tigger will sometimes do this with his treats as well yet they are both happy to eat from the same bowl at the same time. if brandy is eating a treat thats hard to break tigger (6mths) sits and waits for pieces to break away and fall from her mouth then eats it and she will do the same sometimes - no problems they even wash each others faces after which is really cute.

but the meat bones - no way they must be separated and watched all the time or theres trouble.

OMG, Tae totally embarrassed me in a similar way. My neighbor was going to care for her when I went out of town. I took her over there so she could get used to spending time in a new environment. My neighor's girl (not a Boxer), Hayley, had rawhides and other toys lying around. Tae would pick one up and become possessive. She also took toys away from Hayley. I was so embarrassed!

Just like human kids, Boxer kids can misbehave. You did right by taking away the object that was starting the argument

Barlow has never shown any kind of agression over anything. He was the runt of the bunch and just took what he could get and was happy with it. Now that he's older he seems the same about pretty much everything except his "Fat Cat" toy & kids! He loves them to death and cannot contain himself in the least in their presence.
