My 11 month old boxer has been sick for 3 days now. the first day she was vomiting all day, even just water came right back up. The next morning she was still vomiting so i took her to the vet. He gave her a reglan shot and after that she stopped throwing up, but slept the entire day. She seemed extremely depressed. Today is the third day. this afternoon she seems to be doing better she is not nearly as depressed, although she is still not even close to her normal energetic self. She hasn't eaten since this started and i am noticing what I think could be one of 2 things. Either she has a really bad taste in her mouth or she is having trouble swallowing. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Is there anything i can do? I plan on taking her back to the vet tomorrow if I dont see more improvement.

Have you looked in there to see if something could be stuck in the back of her throat? A foxtail, or something sticking back there bothering her? She could be trying to dislodge something from her throat.

When you say she might have a bad taste in her mouth - does that mean she's licking her lips or smacking her lips - that kind of thing? Does she do this shortly before throwing up?

If so, she's tasting a little bit of her stomach acids coming up. You can give her a TUM right when you see her do this, and that might help her from vomitting for that time.

My guy was recently given reglan to help control vomiting. As with every drug he got I looked up all the effects and lip smacking is one of the side effects. They say it could be dosage related. Luke smacked his lips a bit, licking at the air etc for the whole next day but I assumed it was due more to the allergic (itchies) he had to his vaccination. He also slept quite a bit for a few days but again, he went thru so much I assumed it was the whole experience. He got out of I.C.U. on Sunday morning and today is the first day he is completely back up to speed.

Did the vet give your babygirl a good check? Look in her throat and even in her ears with the light and scope?

After the reglan I home cooked chicken and rice for a few days. I think that helped also. Are you on your normal diet still or a bland diet to ease her stomach back? You could try a bland diet for a few days. Just a thought.

Good Luck.
Feel better soon!

Have they done any bloodwork or x-rays to try to find a cause as to why she might be vomiting? Could she have gotten into anything? I hope your little girl feels better soon, please let us know how she's doing!!!!

Krose was so sick like that some weeks ago, he was constantly vomiting and the worst diarrhea and the doctors didn't know what to do because they had no idea what was going on. He lost weight considerably and they were going to put him on IV!!!

They still don't know what happened to him. He was on antiboitics and is well right now. It is normal for your baby to act depressed because his stomach is probably still upset:( poor baby.. I gave Krose home cooked rice and some vermicelli cooked with beef roth for like 4 days or so. Be patient, she is probably still fighting the virus inside. But if you feel she's not getting any better, go top the vet immediately.. We're sending healing vibes towards you...))))) and Krose sends kisses to lara..

Thank you all for your help and concern. She is getting a little better every day, we are still not to sure what caused her illness. But as long as she keeps showing improvment i am happy.
