My boy didn't look very Boxerish when we first got him. A lotof people thought he was a Pit, as he had a longer looking snout. But, now his jowls are dropping and he is looking more and more like Boxer everyday. He acts 100% Boxer all the time though.

Her ears are incredibly floppy and her trainer thinks that she may be part hound.

I also thought the same thing. Her fur looks different also, the texture. She is a doll though! Do you have any newer pics?

Hmmm.. I haven't thought about the fur being different! I guess I haven't met enough other boxers to be able to judge that. I have a ton of new pics I just have to put up! She's now almost 7 months, and we're starting to understand the joys of wooooooooo. :) We should have named her Scooby, because that's who she sounds like!

I would bet money that she is part Boxer, and definitely part hound!

Her ears look very long and floppy for a Boxer and she has the nose of a hound.

She is very cute though!!!! But there is definitely another breed in the woodpile, as they say...

New Pictures!

Well, I have posted new pictures of my long-nosed, floppy-eared, 95% boxer girl! From what I can tell she's got the body and attitude of the boxer, but the stork got the heads mixed up with some other breed right before she was born. I guess there is a bloodhound somewhere with a boxer face! :)

Perhaps I should post a "what's she mixed with" poll? I have heard all kinds of things, including bloodhound, pitbull, and german shepherd. I guess it will always remain a mystery! Regardless, she'll always be a beauty in my book....

Laila's Mom -

She sure is a cute girl! Just curious though - did you ever get back in touch with the breeder and figure out whats going on there, or what they have to say about the whole thing??

We have given this some thought, but never did. In hindsight, we probably should have been clued in when we went to get her. She was very inexpensive compared to most boxer puppies, and the breeder was sure to tell us that he only does this for a hobby, and that none of this litter puppies would be show quality.

I would say we were fairly warned.. Had I known about BoxerWorld before getting her things would be different. But Laila is our first boxer and we simply didn't know what to look for in the puppy's face. As I have said before, the parents had great faces, looked like alot of the boxers on this website. But when I see pictures 6 week old puppies, there is a clear difference from what Laila looked like.

We hoped for a while that she would "grow into" her face, but now it's apparent that she will not. For me, that's ok. We never planned on breeding or competing, and she's grown into our hearts. I like to chalk it up to fate that we got such a wonderful girl. The only consequence is the looks we get when people ask what her breed is.

I for one believe a dog with any boxer in it will turn out to be a wonderful companion for life. And from the sound of it Laila has all the good qualities you can hope for in a boxer. Congrats on a beautiful dog

It really gets to me how some people have these ridiculously high standards for what their dog SHOULD look like. I understand the requirements for being a show dog, etc, etc. But I'm just amazed at how people can sincerely say things like.."you should have been more cautious when choosing your breeder"...or "yes that muzzle is not standard so he must be mixed with another breed" or.."no thats not standard- its ugly". People like that are the reason why some of these "non-standard" or "ugly" dogs get dropped off at the pound. I mean I don't know about the rest of the world, but I buy my dogs to be members of the family-and to love and care for them.

I'm sure I will get a lot of hateful replies for this post, but ya know..Who cares if your dogs muzzle isn't "standard?" As long as you love your dog (and arent just trying to make a buck off him)-why should it matter what other people think? My Tyson has an "abnormally" longer muzzle, but I couldn't care less. I don't know, thats just my oppinion.
