Well we took possession of our new RV, which is a beautiful Cedar Creek Fifth Wheel by Forest River Inc. We have it parked up in the Poconos for now and plan on spending most of the Summer there. Anyway, I don't think Murray is a "happy camper" yet. I don't think the poor little guy got any sleep all weekend. He got us up early on Saturday morning with his whimpering and fell off the bed yesterday morning -- scared us out of our wits cause I thought he broke all four legs! Needless to say, when we got home last night he went right on the couch and fell asleep. He even slept through hubby's 10 p.m. pizza bagel snack. We even waived one right under his nose!

Anyone else done any camping or Rv'ing with their boxer and can offer any advice?

Maybe you can get him his own bed. Or if he already has his own bed, you can put that in the RV when you take him with you. That way, he always sleeps in the same bed all of the time.

Camping

Rock always loved going camping. He of course would not be the one falling off the bed since he always had to be in middle! :D Maybe a little plug in night light would help until he gets used to the new surroundings. I also used to get 2 each of his very favorite toys - 1 for the trailer and 1 for at home. Once he realizes this is home too plus the outdoor fun - I bet he'll love it. Rock always had to let out one of those long sorrowful type breaths when told we had to get in the car to go home.

Some of my best memories of Rock are of us in the mountains. Have fun!!!

We actually went to Walmart and got some plug in night lights and he did sleep a little better on Saturday night -- well at least better than he did Friday night.

Rowdy's Dad -- thanks for the tip about the bed -- we still have his puppy bed in our Expedition. Believe it or not, he still loves that thing and curls up in a ball and still fits in it. Every once in a while though he moves and he's falling out. I'm going to bring that into the RV next weekend.

Thanks for the tips.

Aw, come on Murray this big box is going to take you to so many cool places, and you'll get to meet sooo many Boxer Buds!! How come you aren't sharing in Mom and Dad's joy?!?! I bet that puppy bed will do the trick!!

Never had camping or Rving experience, but I was just trying to get the mental image of Murray(or any other boxers) passing up a pizza bagel snack thinking to himself "leave me alone":D He must've been very tired to pass that up.sleepicon

We have gone camping with Junior a few times and he absolutely loves it! Hubby and I love to hike so we just pack up all our goodies and head to the trails, Junior is in heaven! All the smells and things to look at. We haven't gotten to a trailer yet, we still use a tent, but he enjoys it. We went up to the North Shore on Lake Superior last Memorial Day. The days were beautiful but the nights were COLD! It would get down to 32 degrees. We woke up with Junior on Saturday night in between both of us trying to warm up. He was shaking and we felt so bad, so we put him under the covers and in the morning we both woke up half off our blow up bed! Anyhoo, it was a good experience and he enjoyed himself!

Definately bring some of his favorite toys and bed and he'll eventually adjust!

He definitely loves the whole "outdoor" experience -- it's just when he's inside the RV at night that he cries. I'm also noticing that he doesn't eat well when we're there, which worries me.

On a lighter side, pets are supposed to be kept on their leash at all times but on Sunday no one was really at the campground so hubby took him off his leash and did he take off. He did the typical Boxer dash at wharp speed, rusting through leaves up a hill and back with the biggest stick he could find! evilicon I just feel bad for him that he can't sleep at night. :(

Hopefully the night lights and his own bed will help.

Linda:)
