Does anyone have any experience for suggestions when moving?

My hubby, I and our Rocko are moving from Montana to San Fran CA. We just moved and today is our second day in our new home. I have looked up online all the dog parks and dog friendly places, but does anyone have any tricks that make the move easier for Rocko. I would give my life to explain to him what is going on. He is pretty calm so far and I think that I am the over worried Mom, but I want to make sure that I do what it best for our Baby ;-)

Just make sure he knows where his stuff is like toys, bed, where to potty, where to eat, where the water is, etc. San Francisco has very boxer-friendly weather - not too hot and not too cold!! Bet he loves it!

My husband retired from the Army last year so we have moved quite a bit. Like Tessa said makes sure he has his favotite toys, bed, etc. Also try to get back into your routine as soon as possible. Arabella had a few "accidents" after our last move (her first), but I'm not so sure she wasn't just marking where the previous owners dog had accidents. Others have had their dogs break out in hives, tho' I've never had that and I have moved 3 different boxers over the years. Basically I think our pups feed off our energy. If you're excited about the move, they'll be excited. If you're stressed, so are they. Congrats on your move! San Fran is a lovely city. My stepdaughter lives there and I can't wait to go for another visit.

I agree with the previous posters. Just get back into your routine as quickly as possible, and if you can I would try to arrange "his" things in the same places as you had them before (or as close as possible in a new apartment lol). And keep in mind, they will pick up on your stress level and your mood. If you are calm and treat this just like home and like nothing as changed, they will take your lead and do the same. ;)

Congrats on the move, I hope everything went smoothly for you! My husband and I just relocated from Tennessee to Indiana in April of this year, so I sympathize! My boy kind of got the short end of the stick though... I had to stay with some family members for a few weeks before we could close on our house, and DH stayed behind in TN to continue working and bringing in some $$ while I job hunted... and when I finally moved into our house with Hurricane I just had a bed, clothes, and his stuff. DH didn't come up until a few weeks ago. Hurricane was sooooo confused! lol Poor guy. He did pretty good, all things considered but he was pretty anxious until DH got here. Once our family was complete he calmed down a LOT!
