Boxer Pal
Hi,
My 8 mo. Boxer Romy has a mites.
She is on medication called Ivermectin, and will be on it for next 8 weeks. At first I`ve noticed that her skin is wery dry
on her back, then she start loosing hair on some spots on her had.I taught that`s because of food she is on(science diet),but it got worst so I took her to the Vet today. For bold spots he diagnosed mites (did not tell me what kind),and for dry skin and loosing hair he sad it might be the food so he gave us some samples of the food.I would like to know
is there anything I could do to help her get rid of mites
and to prove her skin and coat.I will switch the food to EUCANUBA rice and lemon(we know 7mo. old boxer puppy with beautiful shine hair and it`s on this food)but I want to
know about bathing her and adding some supplementary oils
to her food.Any advises would be appreciated!!

about the food

I started out feeding Eukanuba to my girl when I first got her. I noticed she had dry skin as well as other alergies to this food. I have switched around but now feed her California Natural which has no artifical perservatives and is a wholistic food. On this food I noticed that her coat looked great, she was sick less, she had no alergies and she ate by far less food as before. You can't even imagine what they put into dog food!! You may want to do a search here for alergies or dog food. There is so much information here. Good luck!:D

Our Bronte developed a similar problem about this time last year. I noticed that she was losing coat in patches along her back - she is a flashy brindle with a lovely shiny coat which looks like burnished wood. Took her to the vet who checked her for mites and then suggested a change in food - she had been on Nutra Nuggets Lamb and Rice - switched her to fish and potato from the vets for three months. No change. We then took her to our old vet who was back in practice and he took a 'plug' from one of the bald spots and sent it away for testing. Before the results came back, a friend suggested Brewer's Yeast which I started giving her every day. The results came back to say she had an estrogen deficiency - but her coat had come back beautifully with the Brewer's Yeast!!! Both Ttakas and Bronte get Brewer's Yeast every day - and both have healthy coats now!
