Mistaken for Boston Terrier

Pete and I went to a PetSmart yesterday since it was raining and I HAD to get him out of the house. We often just go and visit people, other dogs and the cats that are up for adoption.

Well, we met a lady who loved the looks of Pete.

She asked if he were a Boston Terrier.

Obviously, she does not know her dogs.

I told her that Pete just might be the biggest Boston Terrier she will ever meet. Then, we settled down and talked Boxers. She was going out to the internet and visit a couple of sites where Boxers can be found for rescue.

Nice lady, just did not know her dogs.

LOL that is a good one. I get so tired of people saying that mattie is mixed with pit bull...I am like "where do you see that at ??" Some people. But that is so great that you educated the lady and that she is looking into rescues. Boxer kisses from Mattie and puppy breath (ugh) Sinatra ....

Awesome that you used that opportunity to teach her about boxer rescue.
I used to talk to people about greyhound rescue.(had a grey for a short while). Now I tell them about boxer rescue. :D
That is a funny story. Just watching the dog shows I really know my breeds now. Alot of people ask me though "is that a boxer?" And i'm like geez can't you tell. Sometimes they think he's a pitt. I absolutely hate that, cause boxer's are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much cuter :D
I think it's cause he's brindle.

Before actually getting Riley, I had told my boyfriend that I wanted to get a boxer and we talked about the breed. We were watching TV and a commercial with a Boston Terrier came on...he says "Look, there's a boxer on TV now!"

Nope, not even close!

To be fair, I think boxers look less boxer like when they are hot/panting with their mouths open. This is often how people see them in the dog parks. As long as we know!
