Missing my boxers

Scarletwaggy

Boxer Buddy
So sorry for your loss. :( My first Baby Died very young of a very aggressive cancer. Although she could never be replaced we got Idgie Mae a few months later. It was the best thing we could have done. there was so much down time after Scarlet left us ( you don't realize the routine you have until they are gone, so much time spent playing and walking and training that was turned into down time) Idgie got everyone back on their old routine, and helped fill time voids. There are a lot of mannerisms and likenesses between the two, but also there is nothing but unconditional love. Happy that you are back and thinking about getting another baby :)

Boxer Pal
Sorry for your loss. I lost my Buddy ( ARVC) a couple of months ago. We are devastated . It's very hard. I volunteered for a Boxer rescue to 'get my Boxer fix' but decided to go on the list to adopt-- health issues or not ( & no offense to my Lab mix) but I can't see myself without a Boxer. I love everything about the breed, the energy, their faces, their intelligence, etc.

Boxer Insane
I hopped onto Boxerworld this morning after a long absence to get my boxer fix. We lost both of our boxers in 2012 within six months of each other. Lacy was 12 and had heart issues and collapsed one day and we couldn't save her. My heart dog Jack had lymphoma and underwent chemo. He did well for quite a while but the cancer caught up with him and we couldn't get him back in remission and we had to say goodbye. I was so heartbroken after losing Jack, I just couldn't imagine life with another boxer. We ended up getting a lab puppy in 2013, about six months after losing Jack. Sam is now a great dog but he sure was a horrible puppy. Everything went into his mouth. We made several trips to the ER with him because he swallowed things he shouldn't have. This boy could steal and swallow a washcloth in the blink of an eye. We have literally been in training with Sam for 2 years straight and he finally passed his CGC in March. It was quite the accomplishment for us! I've recently been thinking about adding a boxer to the family. I really do miss the breed, I'm just so scared of the health issues that plague these wonderful dogs. Idk. Maybe by the end of the year, we will have another boxer! I enjoyed catching up with everyone's boxer babies!

I lost Finn my remaining boxer 2 weeks ago and like you I miss having a boxer around but the cancer puts me off getting another. I lost both of mine to bone cancer in just over 2 years.

Hopefully will be brave enough to get another one of these days like yourself.

Completely Boxer Crazy
Like you and many others, I lost my first boxer and decided I couldn't do it again. It was crazy how much I loved him. And their faces are so distinctive that I wasn't sure if I could look into another like that. I was already anxious for a new puppy, I wanted a distraction from the pain. I ended up with a border collie.

He is sweet... but he's a dog! My boxers... I swear they were PEOPLE! I was very surprised at the difference. But he's a good boy (usually). Still... back to boxers for me! I don't think I will ever deviate again, and even though it was awful to lose mine... they are worth every second of grief.
