Crazy Suzy

Our SuzyQ is the same way - she doesn't find many dogs to play with because she is a maniac. Her idea of playing is full speed ramming and boxing and growling so it sounds like a huge fight. This is kept up until she is so tired, she can't move anymore. I don't see any aggression in it as long as the other dog is as nuts as her - she doesn't mind in the least being on the receiving end of the ramming etc.

I adopted Jango in Oct 07 and some of the same issues at the dog park. I found a park that had more mastiff breeds and that helped a lot. He needed to play with other dogs that could match his strength. I just adopted Boba 10days ago and they have been at ever since. Jango is just over 2 years old now, and Bona is 1 1/2. But I also wonder how much is too much and trying to find the best time to step in. They both are getting chewed and scratched up pretty good right now.

I know taking them on good migratory walks will help release some of that energy, but I am in AZ and it is just too hot for them to be outside much right now.

Boxer Insane
Here is a link to a post of mine from a while back.
It's a video of my girl playing with her cousin, another Boxer.
In my experience ALL (or a very good majority) of BOXERS play this way.
Actually when I have taken Cami to the dog park she will make every attempt to get other dogs to play Boxer-style and if she doesn't get any takers, she just starts running around like a fool.

That was sooo cute. I liked when you told Cami to sit and she did and then Sugar laid down, and then Cami looked at her and saw she was laying down, and then laid down. That was funny!

I'm so glad to see the video and read about the play habits of everyone's boxers. Bailey and Morgan (an Aussie mix) play this way! They mouth one another and body slam, chasing and growling the whole time. It sure looks nasty, but they're obviously having a great time. They take breaks, lying side-by-side, panting their heads off, then hop back up and go at it again.
