Does anyone have a suggestion on good obedience schools in the twin cities area that I can bring my 7 month old boxer too? We need to work on "come", "stay", "heel", and "down".
Thanks.

I don't have any specific suggestions, but what you want to look for is a class that uses only positive reinforcement and buckle collars. Avoid anywhere that uses pinch collars or choke chains. If you think you have found a decent place, ask to audit a class before you sign up, so that you won't waste you money. :)

Sue Kothe at total recall!!

Sue is a great trainer AND a very nice lady. Her methods are not purely positive .....but more of a balanced approach that produces enthusiastic and reliable dogs. If you have any questions/concerns regarding the use of a particular training tool:) she will happily answer them. I just started competing in akc obedience trials with my lab, and she has really helped me with my training and handling!

good luck,

Dan

Thanks

Thank you all for the input. I have also spoken with Emmit's vet and he had several suggestions, so I have many leads to follow up on.

We liked the MN Valley Humane Society - Canine U in Burnsville. Used only positive reinforcement, gentle leader training. Small class size and energetic, positive instructors. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We have tried the Bloomington obedience club. Far too many dogs and crabby instructors that don't understand the nuances of a boxer. NOT RECOMMENDED.
