Our puppy Osuna is about 10 weeks old and her recent vet visit showed that she is only 2.7lbs...has anyone EVER seen a Boxer this small? Is this normal? Will she get bigger?

10 wks and only 2.7lbs...OMG. That seems a bit small for that age even for a female. Are you sure it's a Boxer JK. Do you have any pictures of her so we have a better idea of what she looks like?

that is DEFINATELY undersized. Are u sure its 10wks? i've seen some breeders (irresponsible ones of course) try to pass off 5wk old pups as 8wks.. or 4wk as 6wks.. How many pups were in the litter? pups are generally a little bit smaller starting off in large litter, and this could have been the reason why she is a tiny runt.. though a responsible breeder would have done all they could to get this pup more caught up to its littermates. Did the vet checkup come out w/ a clean bill of health? perhaps she is not absorbing all the nutrients she needs? Im not sure.. sorry i could not have been of more help. But if this were my puppy, i would definately be worried about her size. Even the smallest pup/runt in my Nikki's litter (of 8) was 8lbs by 8wks.. Nikki was second smallest weighing in at 10lbs. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will be of more help.

Bailey was 6 wks when I got her and 5 pounds, then I found out she had parvo and coccidia (sp?). She then dropped down to 3 pounds that first week. She is still tiny at 5 moinths being only 24 pounds. Is she eating/pooping normal? Has she been to the vet? Even if she was a runt this is really tiny and I might be concerned, but if she is acting normal I would just try to fatten her up a bit.

I have heard of people selling "miniature" boxers. Trying to make a buck off of people who don't want larger dogs. My dad was told by boxer rescue in Michigan that they have a real problem with it up there.

At 10 weeks, Asia was somewhere around 12 lbs (I just had to look back in her 'vet files' ... man I miss those days)!!

I agree with everyone else, 2.7 lbs is really small...Have you spoken with your vet about her weight?

I would agree that 2.7lbs is small. My female is 12 weeks and 9lbs 13oz, and I think she is on the smaller size so if you haven't already you should take her to the vet to get checked over. Let us know how she is doing. Boxer kisses to her from Laila. And kisses from Cujo too!!!

Update...

OK, so we went to the vet and our little 'Suna is healthy, but the vet said he'd never seen a boxer that small. All of the breeder's other pups were normal size, save the two runts, and he did give us prior warning that she was pretty small. I think he was as surprised as we were! But really, the toys and things we buy for her are all for chihuahuas because she just can't fit anything else in her mouth! We're seeing the vet again next week so I'll keep you updated. I'd hate to think we got the wool pulled over our eyes with a TOY BOXER. Yikes!

There is no breed called a miniature boxer nor is there a toy boxer, has the vet checked her for every possible medical problem?????

I would get a second opinion on her size/age if he doesn't come up with something soon. Also contact the breeder and start asking!

That seems terribly small for a boxer. Then again I have two males One is 4 years and 45lbs, the other is not even 2 years and 75 pounds, so they do vary in size - however my 45# is an all white deaf, that I adopted from a rescue - and is probably the result of some serious Back yard breeders, my other dog is from a reputable breeder. So I would definately call the breeder and get some info on the other pups. I am not saying not to keep and love and care for your dog, but you should try to find out what you are dealing with so you can be prepaired. And as others pointed out, she could be sick. Good luck and keep us updated
