Mini Boxer, some people are just plain stupid

I found this after doing a google search for mini boxers.

What is a Mini-Boxer?

Thank you for your interest in this excellent hybrid breed: a mix between a select male pug and a choice female toy fox terrier. For a slightly larger version, a male pug is bred to a female Boston terrier, which also produce what some folks call a” bug”, pugston, or mini-boxer. The pug X toy foxes are tan with black muzzles. The pug X Bostons can be similarly-colored, but also can be brindle or black /white. We work mostly with 3 local small-time breeders to produce these dogs. Shortly after birth the pup’s tails are docked, resulting in a hardy dog that has striking resemblance to a normal-size boxer both in physical looks and temperament, yet about ¼ the size! Mini-boxers end up weighing 12-18 # as adults, 11-13” high at the shoulders, have straight short coats (normal shedding), with a short snout that allows normal breathing. They make excellent little house dogs: well-tempered, alert and full of play, and yet cuddly and responsive. They are eager to please and train easily. Mini-boxers are excellent with children and other animals. Although this breed has been bred only about 4 years, the record thus far has been good: no known congenital defects, and full of hybrid vigor.

Like I said some people are just plain stupid. I think they probably sit around and come up with ways to make a buck.

A couple of years ago, mixing a pug and a miniature pincher got you a mini-rottweiler! Haven't heard of them since. Hopefully, this will be just as popular and go nowhere.

I encountered an owner of such a dog while camping on fourth of July. The owner said OH! I have a mini boxer I should bring him to meet your dog! Is she fixed? Would you be interested in breeding? All in one breath! I said NO! She is fixed and NO! I would not be interested in breeding my PUREBRED dog with a mixed dog. He told me then that his dog was registered. I politely told him that it is not a recognised breed. I did tell him tho that I would be interested in seeing his mutt. He never came back to our site so I didnt get to see what this dog looked like.

These people are everywhere trying to make a fast buck. Its a shame that the boxer has to be messed up in the naming of the dog as our dogs have no part in the breeding of this dog.

local pet store

In our local pet store they were selling JUGS, jack russel and pug mixes. The lady at the counter was telling people they were registered and a top new breed. I stood there arguing with her that they were not AKC ( the whole time hoping I was correct) and how hyper jack russels can be. I was unsure of why people would breed two opposite dogs on purpose?

$$$$$$$$$

Jack Russells aren't even Jack Russells in the AKC anymore, they're now called Parson Russell Terriers.

we have a pet store in our area

and they have all the so called fancy mixed ankle biters and my God are they expensive! Yet people in this area buy them up! For some kind of "status" thing I guess. My husband calls it "keeping up with the Jones'."

I think we should just save these poor puppies and the parents and try to make examples of the horrid people who do this ignorent and greedy breeding!

I'm all for mutts, and mized breeds (I grew up with mixed breeds and they've all been great dogs), but some people, I'd have to agree, are just plain dumb. I don't understand why people would breed dogs like that. I understand it's about money, but come on...have a heart. I had a terrier mix who was (RIP Buddy) one of the ugliest dogs ever, and had a face that only 3 year old me could love. But not everyone has those same opinions, and its not fair to the pups who are produced, or the dogs being bred to make a quick buck.

Don't get me started on Pet Stores....lol I'll get really riled up.

Some of the best dogs I had growing up were mixed breeds.....but I sure as heck didn't pay hundreds of dollars for them, and sure as heck didn't get them to breed. Heck, whoever thought that a Border Collie/Great Dane was a wonderful pairing should be shot. Mack is a sweetheart but he is HUGE and I don't see the purpose. This was an INTENTIONAL BREEDING! His litter was sold for $500 each. Luckily, Mack's previous owner opted to neuter him.

It is amazing how much stupidity there is in the world when it comes to animals. Just goes to show that anyone can have children, and anyone can have pets......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

brace yourself-

this pet store by us here in Novi charges WELL over $1000.00 for each pup.

I take the kids in there occasionally because they let you play with the dogs and the only dog I ever saw there for less was a pure German sheppard that they were letting go for $500 because he was older (12 weeks) and no one wanted him because people thought he was a "mean" breed.

I saw a Whippet there, I really wanted a rescued Greyhound at the time and was denied for adopting because of my kids ages so I saw this whippet there and thought that he was a great option for me and the kids, they were charging $1600.00 for him!

I have a mixed right now, Roxy, she is half boxer and half lab and I ADORE her. I have only owned one AKC pure bred and he was a mini pin- loved him, what a character, he was very pricey but I did not pay for him so I did not care- lol

*shakes head*

it is pathetic what some will do to make a buck off the back of a dog. I won't even get STARTED on my take on pet stores like that. I have made it my personal practice though, to NOT shop at pet stores that sell live dogs/cats. Stores like Petsmart which work with rescues is a different issue.

I had a former friend who managed a store which sold purebred pups for far more than they were worth, and was always telling me I should come in and take advantage of this sale or that sale. I always declined, just didn't want to get into why. FINALLY, I let her have it with both barrels when I walked by and saw one of their $950 Italian Greyhound pups in the window pen with no food, no water, and pooping some very wormy poop. I couldn't stay out of the store anymore. My actions and reactions ended up closing the store down and the friendship ended soon afterwards.
