So for about the past 3 weeks now, Tyson (will be 9 months on 30 Dec) has been holding back his urine in an attempt to mark when he smells other dogs on our walks. Today, for the first time, he lifted his leg and hit his mark; previously he would only squat in frustration near where he wanted to mark because he couldn't figure out how to get the job done. Does this signify his passage to manhood? I'm such a proud papa!!!

Your baby boy is growing up! Don't let him fool you, he's still a baby, really a teen & we all know what that means! My baby Cletus now 1yr old will even scratch the ground after marking, sometimes its more than Moma can take at times! LOL, Hanley

Ha Ha- Titan will be 2 in May and he does the scratching sometimes--however he does not know how to lift his leg yet, which is fine by me. I"m afraid one of these days he's gonna lift it on my roses and I will be soooo mad.

Henry (14 months) does the scratching, but still does not lift his leg. Every once in awhile he will kind of tilt and lift one foot off the ground a couple inches, but that is all so far...lol.

Not sure if it's a "passage into manhood" or not. My moms male is 6 now and still to this day does not lift his leg. He is more of an "artist" when he pees. I call him "Leonardo PeeVinchi", as when he starts to urinate, he is in continuous motion! :p
My Spirit is 13months now and once in awhile he will just slightly lift his foot off the ground, just like Sidda1018 described.
