I know there was another thread on this but it is closed :( so I thought i'd get my extra question answered

does anyone know how often the microchips migrate? and are they any health issues related to microchipping dogs? like the earlier kinds used or anything?

i want my dog to come home if lost - but i dont want to get the chip done if she will have problems later or if it migrates and causes problems

I got both my girls chipped, and both chips have migrated. Lexi's has moved down towards her left shoulder, and Loki's has moved only slightly. I have also worried about them getting out and running, and a vet not being able to tell they are chipped. We took their AVID chip tags off, because they chewed them to pieces. I talked to a local pet shop about engraving on the back of their name tags their AVID number, and to scan the whole front half of their bodies. They said this was possible. So just a little info!!!

i figured slightly but i didnt know if they would migrate a huge amount.. to odd spots or anything
